So, you saved me, so I'll sue your ass

Seriously, WTF is wrong with some people?
Its like 'Oh, should I have waited for the car to catch goddamn fire before I decided to rescue you?'
Bah, I bet the rescuer is now wishing she didn't help her so-called 'friend'. I certainly know I would.

I say she should sue the producers of every single Hollywood blockbuster. They're the ones that have created and perpetuated this myth that cars explode after crash. They might slowly catch on fire but they almost never explode.

Oddey 12-22-2008 02:12 AM

Now I'll think twice about helping people.

Havoc 12-22-2008 03:32 AM

Why not sue the lamppost while she's at it...

Jordan 12-22-2008 04:40 AM

Well, at least she's alive. Fucking ungrateful, that's what she is.

Munch's Master 12-22-2008 04:47 AM

Not only do cars not explode but oil barrels too. You need a spark for it to blow up, and a bullet or whatever wont make a spark. Itd just punch a hole and dribble out fuel.

But back on topic, thats rather dickish to sue them after savign you, but if the woman hadnt thought "Oh no its gonna explode" and had been more careful in their rescue, the woman might not be a paraplegic. Rushing in without thinking, while admirable, does sometimes cause problems. But she still shouldnt get sued over it, she had good intentions at heart.

Why wouldn’t a bullet cause a spark? Metal on metal. Even light switches can cause sparks.

Wings of Fire 12-22-2008 05:11 AM

I think the fact that's more contrary to popular belief is that it would take far more than one spark, or one cigarette to light up a crude oil drum, crude oil isn't quite as flammable as the movies would have you believe.

Havoc 12-22-2008 09:18 AM

Mythbusters tested for two full episodes with every possible scenario and a bullet will not cause a barrel of fuel to ignite, let alone explode. They shot an entire car with a filled up gastank to shit with just about every kind of small arms ammo you can think off and nothing happened. In true mythbuster tradition they did blow the car up eventually, but that took a lot more then just gas and a bullet ;).

Wil 12-22-2008 03:18 PM

Mythbusters is the most unscientific shit I have ever seen. I endured several episodes before I realized that I’d get more accuracy from a space opera action romp. I then found out it has a following/popularity.

I exaggerate (I could only stand a couple of episodes), but I still dislike the programme. And not just because it was an episode that involved firing chicken carcasses out of a home-made cannon.

Nate 12-22-2008 04:33 PM

Yeah, I also hate it when they're trying to pretend to be scientific. They had one where they tested various motion-sickness cures with a sample size of two, which included one member (Tori) who was proven to be susceptible to the placebo affect.

But when they're playing with myths and blowing stuff up, they're a hell of a lot of fun. That said, they haven't been doing any real myths for a few years now.

At least they introduce people to the very alien concept of experimentation. You wouldn't believe the sorts of stuff people will come out with (hmm... actually, you probably would) about day-to-day phenomena that is so totally bogus, and the thought to test the idea, which is well within their means to do, never occurred to them. I've actually found that some people are genuinely offended when I suggest they try an experiment. Usually people who have invested a lot of money in their particular brand of snake oil.

After seeing a pirate special, I now know not to try to fly down a sail(on a ship) with a knife. Plus they blow stuff up.

I can kind of understand suing some one that saved me if it left me unable to play the flute. The flute's my life.

Even though that person was just trying to save you from dying, or being burned alive?

Look up Samuel Johnson's most famous misquote.
