Best Remake VS Worst Remake (Games)

Well, the title speaks for itself.

Best Remake: Bionic Commando Rearmed

The original was a really good game, but the remake beats it, and I'm a really retrogamer.

Worst Remake: Sonic games

About almost games from Sonic out of Segas's consoles suck. Sonic Unleashed seems to be cool, at least the demo.

Game remakes? I can hardly name 3, let alone ones I've played/enjoyed.

Bullet Magnet 12-21-2008 02:02 PM

Games don't get remakes, they just get sequels.

Oh, and Doom.

This would be better suited for movies.

Much, much better. I mean, the only one from memory I can name is the Prince of Persia franchise, resurrected from the awesome platformer of ages ago. The new games really sucked.

I don't know about 'remakes' per se... but I've always been a fan of game series that were still in their early stages.

For example, I loved the Legend of Zelda series up until 'A Link to the Past' for the SNES (that was my favorite, though Ocarina of Time was not bad)... then the interest tapers off. Same with the Megaman series and Sega's Sonic series. Another facet of this is that these were the games I grew up with in the 80s and early 90s, so there are some good memories. :)

I think I'm just a sap for vintage gaming; today's games try too hard to seem 'real' in my opinion and I just don't find them fun. Plus I think that a series can only be milked so much before it gets tired.

Matter of opinion, Sands of Time is one of my favourite games ever.

The Sonic games haven't been remade, they've just been re-released. There's a difference. And if you're on about SA1 and SA2, they're basically just the original games but with added features to work with the Gamecube.

I'd have to say one of the best remakes I've played is FFIV for the DS. Even though I never played the original. :p

Worst remake... Probably Tomb Raider Anniversary. I loved it at first, but now I look at it, they pretty much raped Tomb Raider 1 to bits.

The only actual game remakes I can think of are MGS:Twin Snakes and Ninja Gaiden.

Moosh da Outlaw 12-22-2008 07:33 AM

The Turok remake (at least I think it could be considered a remake) did only slightly better than Turok: Evolution, which sucked donkey balls. That's all I can come up with.

Fuzzle King 12-23-2008 03:12 AM

i fucking hated the latest turok.the controls sucked major ass.

Wasn't OoT on N64?

Twin Snakes was the worst remake ever I returned it!

OANST 12-29-2008 06:54 AM

N+! It's a remake of N. Sort of.

Yes, I love this game. And now I have Kastere playing it with me. It won't be long before you bitches fall in line.

What? It wasn't that bad.

What? It wasn't that bad.

The cutscenes were ridiculous, the first-person view made the game too easy since the design of the game itself was never made for it, and the voice acting was flat.

I'm sorry but there's no substitute for the original, I did not like that remake one bit and Metal Gear Solid is my favorite game series ever.
