Brütal Legend doomed to brilliance!

It's a classic good news/bad news scenario.

Good News: Brütal Legend has a publisher.
Bad News: It's EA. Damn.

http://www.doublefine.com/news.php/p...s/brutallegend

Also: You'd be amazed how popular the phrase "Violated Lemon" is on Google.

Wil 12-12-2008 05:13 AM

I saw. This is quite distressing. But since I’ve owned nothing that could contribute to the gaming industry for over two years, I’m not personally dismayed.

OANST 12-12-2008 07:28 AM

I don't think it will be a problem. EA will most certainly market the shit out of it. It has celebrity voices and is coming out on all sku's (minus Wii, of course). EA did a good job marketing Mirrors Edge which was really more of a long shot than this.

Anonyman! 12-12-2008 01:03 PM

Hey. Maybe Tim Schafer will finally get the money he deserves.

Leto 12-12-2008 01:06 PM

wtf is Brutal Legend?

wtf is.....get the fuck out!

Leto 12-12-2008 01:52 PM

It is an age old phrase commonly abbreviated to GTFO.

ooooh, it's affiliated with Psychonauts. you guys will lap that shit up huh, even with Jack Black?

We here at Oddworld Forums should be used to EA fucking creative games up the butt by now, shouldn't we?

Bullet Magnet 12-12-2008 01:56 PM

I can be no coincidence that we're shielding our old wounds from the hurricane force winds of shit.

EA has the power to f*** some games, so, if you got luck, it will be great.

Nate 12-12-2008 05:24 PM

This, possibly written by an EA employee, is slightly reassuring:
:

Hey, I would like to dimiss any fears people have about Brutal Legend being picked up by EA. In all honesty it is a GREAT thing. For those of who have not been following the development side of games for a while, I would like to note that EA has changed for the better, of not for the AMAZING, in the last two or three years. You see, Activision, has now taking up that hold throne of evil, built on the corpses of employees, wherein EA now tries to cultivate creativity and new ideas, ie Mirror’s Edge and Dead Space.

Also, there is something that EA has made called EA Partners, this is what Brutal Legend is under. What does this mean? It means that Double Fine will have pretty much complete creative control, ALONG WITH, any EA assets that wish to use from. Which includes publishing. And of course, with EA Partners, Double Fine would still own all rights to their games. No Psychonauts cellphones games... which... would be kinda cool actually.

ANYWAY thats all I wanted to say. Be happy its EA, folks. It’s gonna be a great ride.

Xavier 12-13-2008 10:21 AM

EA has released this last couple of months:
Dead Space
Left 4 Dead
Mirror's Edge

Those are all great games (I even ordered the 2 last of them)
So I'm not too afraid for Brütal Legend. But I might be worried about the future of Double Fine prod.

I guess we'll see

Daxter King 12-13-2008 08:01 PM

I could maybe see this being a problem, considering Mirror's Edge bombed hard even though they really tried with it. I doubt it, since they still plan Mirror's Edge 2, Brutal Legend will get publicity.

Anyone else watch the VGAs? They showed a new trailer, looks alot better than when we last saw it.

Xavier 12-15-2008 10:19 AM

Just saw it over here:

can't wait for it.

Hobo 12-15-2008 01:02 PM

Looking good

Nate 07-25-2009 09:10 PM

Extended gameplay video with commentary. For the first time I'm really starting to feel the awesomeness of this game.

(there are four parts to this vid)

Jordan 07-26-2009 02:10 AM

That does look pretty damn awesome.

Xavier 07-26-2009 08:25 AM

Be assured, those videos have been drooled upon.

OANST 07-31-2009 07:46 AM

The judge in the Doublefine v Activision case has denied Activision's request to stop sales of the game. For now. He will give a final ruling on that particular subject next week. But in his own words: "I can't say there's a likelihood of success here,". Kick ass.

OANST 08-07-2009 09:54 AM

It has been settled out of court. Activision has reportedly settled for next to nothing just so that they could save face by not losing in open court. Brutal Legend will be released on schedule.
