NXE Bricking 360s

So, I was downloading the the legit NXE yesterday. it was taking some ridiculous amount of time (changing between 79 and 110 minutes), so I checked online on the NZ xbox.com forums to see if everyone else is having this problem.

seems they're not, but they're having a much worser problems than I.

When they download NXE, their consoles can no longer read discs. This isn't one or two people, but 15 pages of people on this forum complaining their consoles no longer work. thread here. When people phone Microsoft, they deny the problem having any relation to the downloading of NXE, and they offer to repair the disc drive or something for $100 odd.

No idea if this is localized to NZ, but this seems insane. NXE effectively bricking consoles and Microsoft deny it as a problem. LOLCONSPIRACY

New Xbox Experience, aka the new Xbox 360 dashboard that has just been released.

Alcar 11-27-2008 07:58 PM

Just been released? I've had it for at least a week or two now - hasn't ruined my Xbox.

I have only had the occasional problem of freezing while looking at friends list. Hasn't happened too often, though.

Leto 11-28-2008 11:52 AM

why would this problem only be localised to NZ?

mitsur 11-28-2008 04:55 PM

Took me like 10 mins to download and I sort of have a shit connection. It's done nothing but good things for me. I guess my Xbox just realizes I'm superior and won't take anymore shit after having to replace the fan a couple months ago for like 50 bucks when it wasn't cooling the video card enough.

Also, run-on sentences are amazing.

PETER YOU HAVE AN XBOX?

I've always had an Xbox... In fact, as I am without a PS3, this is the first time in ~10 years that I've been without a major console.

I can hear a PS3 weeping somewhere.

mines fine too,i dunno whats going on with other people's ones.
but what can be a little annoying though,is if im in a party talking to my mates and i come off a game and onto the dashboard the chat goes all laggy and cant hear anyone properly. But its only for like 10 seconds though.

Gamertag?

I don't use Live, only my brother does :p

However, as Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts utilises an online multi-player aspect, I might try my hand.

Any idea how to get the old Dashboard?

Leto 11-29-2008 01:11 PM

unless you downloaded the NXE leak, and haven't upgraded to the full nonleak NXE yet, I don't think there is a way to revert back.

:

1- Go to your Xbox 360 and tell her everything is going to be OK and then select - system - memory - - hard drive.

2- Now press Y which brings you to "rename" then press X,X,LB,RB,X,X then answer "yes" to the following question concerning "Do you want to perform..."
do that to flush the memory to restore the erm, I think the first 360 firmware. I'm pretty sure that works with the NXE leak and any other previous versions of the 360 dashboard.

not my explanation

OANST 12-10-2008 09:07 AM

I have encountered a slight problem. Occasionally, when trying to download a video, it will take fucking forever. It sometimes stays on 1 percent for over an hour. And the last one I tried to download gave me a message of "Cannot download" after an hour of it trying to. I never experienced anything like this before the update.

Leto 12-10-2008 10:34 AM

That's how long it was taking to get NXE over here. Yours sounds like it might be more to do with your internet though

NXE is one buggy mother

Fuzzle King 12-10-2008 10:35 AM

my problem may be linked, as i went to download and arcade game, added 500 points and a message came up saying it cannot download it.Bye Bye points.

Yup. Same exact fucking thing.

And it isn't my internet. I have some seriously fast internet connection. Plus, I never once had the problem before NXE. I almost always have the problem now.

Edit: Post 3,000 bitches!

Although, I honestly have posted far more than that. A lot of them got deleted.

Fuzzle King 12-10-2008 11:18 AM

i want my points back:fuzsad:
i sent them an email conplaining but the bastards havn't replied.

Strike Witch 12-10-2008 02:15 PM

Eh, it did just come out, and this IS Microsoft we're talking about.

Colour me unsurprised. Give it time and they'll patch it.

Leto 12-10-2008 02:22 PM

Everyone I know who has contacted Microsoft directly has been told there is a problem with their consoles and nothing is wrong with NXE

Bullet Magnet 12-10-2008 02:45 PM

I should think, then, they should be rather more concerned. An OS can be much more easily repaired than the hardware it inhabits, and if the problem is so widespread...

Then again, it should come as no fucking surprise.

Leto 12-10-2008 06:39 PM

You would think they would be gravely concerned but it seems not.

Havoc 12-13-2008 12:13 PM

Has this been secretly fixed yet? I'm soon going to reconnect my Xbox and I'd hate to go through all that trouble just to kill it when I'm done...

Leto 12-13-2008 03:33 PM

Doesn't seem so. It's still a problem here.

Hobo 12-14-2008 03:08 PM

Still no problems on either of my Xboxes. Sucks to be you guys.

OANST 12-15-2008 07:09 AM

I haven't had the problem for a few days now. Seems to be better.
