Molluck's alive?
In Abe's Oddysee, Molluck was BELIEVED, to have died in the fiery pit of hell known as Rupturefarms... BUT! In Abe's Exoddus, You can hear two of the Glukkons talking. One says, "HEY! That bastard Abe's here!". And the other says, "Molluck'sa gonna be PISSED!"... Does this mean that Molluck is still alive? And, if so, why haven't we seen him again?_?

He's hiding
RuptureFarms never burnt down. Molluck knew full well that he would be held accountable for the loss of several highly profitable franchises, and at the hands of a slave rebellion of all things. Thus he went into hiding, but was originally meant to be captured and brought to trial in Munch’s Oddysee. This will probably happen in the films, but was excluded from the game for various reasons relating to the game’s release deadline and platform swapping.

Also you should ask questions like this in the Oddworld Q&A thread in future :). EDIT: Damn that Max, he always beats me! |
I am personally harbouring him in my apartment.

D'aww. D8 Tell him I want him to come visit me. I've always wanted to learn more about profits. >>;
In any case, at the time that those glukkons are speaking, it's only a day or two after the destruction of Rupturefarms. All they know is that he's missing; not that he's in hiding or that there will soon be a bounty on his head.
*really wants to mention what happened in his interview with Lorne* |
*Marvels at the ability to glean so much information from what is essentially the non-transmission of information*

Now imagine Brian Blessed saying the name of this thread OUT LOUD.
It's making my brain turn its wheels and I'm getting ideas of my own. :3
He will be back, soon or later.
He'll probably crop up again. I just hope they don't do the cliche film twist of him being one of the 5 Quintology heroes. But I have faith in OWI and Lorne that they won't go down that route.
:
That's a blow, Nate.
Yup, that's been my theory from day 1.
It’s also been my ‘I hope they don’t do this predictable thing’ since Day 1.
If Molluck was a Quintology hero, and all the quintology heroes have their own moons wouldn't that contradict with the whole reason the Glukkons started despising the Mudokons?
Reducto ad absurdum! |
Not if the Glukkon handprint moon only just appeared. In fact, if there were still Glukkon cults that remembered and cared about this part of their history, the sudden manifestation of what, in their belief system, signifies their chosenosity might pacify them somewhat and stop them working behind the scenes to keep Mudokons oppressed.
I'd crack up if that happened. I really would.
I don't see them doing that if they continue this in video game form. It would be extremely boring and tedious to play as Glukkon. It was fun AE, but that was only in short bursts. At the very least they would need to incorporate some form of alternate transportation. Walking through an entire game would be awful.
I should imagine that a disgraced glukkon who has found a greater purpose in fighting the industrialist encroaches onto the remaining wilderness (or just fighting his grandmothers) will have discarded those inconvenient designer suits and donned something a little more practical, freeing up his sprinter arms for, well, sprinting.

If there was a game where you could play as a Gluk most of the time, he'd definitely have to get rid of that suit. And there's always the slig bodyguard he might be able to bribe into helping him shoot things or somethin'. o:
:
it would be pretty cool.
Imagine. He could run, leap, strike out... he'd have to have some good balance. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Hehe, he could leap like Elum.
Never really thought a Glukkon and an Elum would be compared:p...but it would be interesting to play as Molluk fighting against the industry that he once was so devoted to. It would be like a Jungian delving into one's psyche to find out what's really important in life, not to mention an interesting commentary on how even the greediest and most despicable can turn around and find the spiritual side of themselves.

very true.
