ps2 problem

hey all , I recently download abe's oddysee and abe's exoddus psx versions (through warez ofcourse:fuzcool:) and burned each of them them to CD-R , my ps2 can play them and read they are psone games but it doesn't play the game itself , my ps2 can play backed up games , has anybody experienced a prob. like that?
if so plz what's the solution.

Hello!

Most likely if you downloaded a warez copy of either game it's the US version. Correct me if I'm wrong on that....

So my question would be where did you buy your PS1 and PS2? Did you buy them in Egypt or did you have them shipped in from another place?

I'm thinking this has something to do with regional encoding on the PS1.... either that or the laser in it is not focussed to read CD-Rs very well. Have you played other 'burned' games in the PS1?

abe619 11-01-2008 01:43 AM

i don't have ps1 anymore , tried to play them with the backwards compatablity of my ps2 , and i did buy my ps2 from sony here in egypt.

Pilot 11-01-2008 01:49 AM

Oh okay I see. Yes, then it sounds like you're dealing with some sort of regional coding (SCAM!) ... if your PS2 reads other CD-Rs okay, which it should, then this is definitely the case.

Bummer.

The only fix, as I understand it, is to 'hack' your console to play all regions. There are probably other members more qualified on this subject because I've heard of what's called 'chipping' X-boxs before and I only assume that this can be done with PS2s... it just requires a lot of technical skill and someone handy with a soldering iron to be able to do. Anyone?

Aside from that, try finding a 'local' copy of the game. :(

In future, BUY THE DAMN GAMES. If you buy them, you will not have problems like this.

Nate 11-01-2008 03:32 AM

Jordan is right. Your issue is not to do with region encoding; it is to do with illegally downloading the games. This is completely against the rules of these forums. Especially so now that the games are easily available on Steam.

Pilot, I know you've been gone for a while but this is against our rules. Please don't assist any one like this in the future.

here in egypt wherever u buy your ps2 from it comes already chipped.
and i downloaded it because i can't find it , and my ps2 always played downloaded games except a few.

No tu quoque argument will defend you. Just because piracy seems to be the norm where live, does not make it excusable. We won’t assist you with your crime.

Christ boy did this one throw me for a loop. Sorry for being an 'accessory' just trying to help. You guys are right, it should not be discussed here.

Call me Rusty. I'll call you Frank.

I don't agree with massive software piracy... but even I've given copies of AO and AE to my friends because you can't buy them new anymore.

Except that now you can...

Oh, since when has over 16 million active user accounts been not many?

Steam's online payment happens to be very secure. In fact, I'd consider it to be more secure than my local amazon.co.uk, which rather annoyingly saves card details. Steam doesn't do this. Steam also has some preventive measures for credit card fraud.

kin37ik 11-04-2008 07:29 PM

i never said 16 million accounts was not many, my point being is that not everyone trusts using their credit card details over steam...

also, it sounds like your saying every steam user buys games using their credit card details....

Nate 11-05-2008 01:08 AM

I used PayPal when I buy games on Steam.

Problem solved.
