Bug in Abe's Exoddus (FeeCo Depot)
Hello to everyone here in Oddworld Forums!I am a new member.
I start off with a problem/bug... Having completed the Bonewerkz and the Slig Barracks, i have returned to FeeCo Depot, to visit the Soulstorm Brewery. After the initial path where i crush a bunch of sligs with some boxes (Baggage Claim), there is a level where i have to possess a Glukkon to use a phone and open the door out. I have attached the two screenshots of the level (just two screens) so that you understand the point of the game. The problem is that the Glukkon is stuck!!! It does not move at all, either i possess it or not!I cannot do anything further if i do not possess it...Also, i don't want to skip the level using cheats...I have tried reinstalling the game but nothing... What can i do?Has anyone experienced something similar?? Are there any saved games so that i can bypass this point? I have saved all mudokons so far, and i want to finish the game... Thanks in advance for your time..! |
You mean after you possess the glukkon (whose name is Aslik, by the way) you can't make him move? Or you can't get him out of that area?
|
Aslik is frozen when i enter the screen...i can't make him move at all, either if i possess him or not...

Sound like a faulty disc to me...

That problem is quite common for certain versions of the game for some reason. There is no direct fix or bypas for it other then to cheat your way around the area but that way you'll never reach all 300 muds.
There is one thing that does work. Over on gamecopyworld.com (legal site) you'll find .exe files for your Exoddus game. You can replace your original .exe file with that one and you'll have a different version of the game and all come with pro's and cons. In the list you'll eventually find there are only two versions that work and those are the two German ones at the bottom which are noted as not fully functional. This is because those versions have a lot of bugs concerning the music and sounds in the game which will either loop all the time or not play at all. However those versions do fix the Aslik problem. Do know that if you do this you'll have to start from the start, there's no way around that. Lemme know if you need more help. |
@ Havoc
I have tried playing it with another .exe so that the version is different, but the game won't launch, because i have winxp...so I must find a solution that both works with xp and fixes the bug :) Another thing is that, as I am pretty close to the end, I don't want to start over again...If I keep my saved games will they work with the new version? I was also thinking of giving the latest savegame to a friend or someone so that they play this bit for me, and give me back the savegame after the problematic screen...Does this sound as it would work? By the way, is it possible that someone here helps me with this?I just need to get past this screen, and cross my fingers that it won't happen again during the rest of the game...Could you take my savegame and finish these two screens? |
I reckon that happened to me once, it's a nasty bug. All I can suggest is just downloading a savegame and a trainer to cheat your way back to where you were before. Because it's such an old game there's no patch for it I'm afraid.

@Jordan
what do you mean?how would a trainer help?i have searched for saved games but can't find anywhere... |
Here’s a thought. You can path skip to get to the start of SoulStorm Brewery, but this will completely screw with how many Mudokons you’ve saved, as well as skip out quite a few screens of gameplay. The first of these is not really a problem, because there is a trainer that allows you to change the number of Mudokons you’ve rescued/killed, and you can do this to restore your save count, adding a few to take account of those that you’ll miss out using the path skip cheat.
Alternatively, give your save file to someone whose copy of the game doesn’t suffer from the glitch. I’d do it for you: I could put you right after the troublesome bit and you’d barely be missing anything out at all. |

Not really; most people have managed to run it fine on XP. It's only the rare few who have issues.

mine runs fine on my XP

there's only 1 way to bypass this ok listen carefuly make a shortcut of the game and right click on it then click properties then in the target box and at the end of the text type in " -ddcheat" DONT FORGET THE SPACE and dont include the ". after that click apply and ok.
in game press the "tab" button and your free to fly around (ps. this can crash the game if so press alt+f4 or ctrl+alt+delete) |
Why not, just use path skip, and then use LIJI'S save editor and restore modducken saves. Done. :)

Use the Ddcheat to go back to Feeco Depot(Can't remember if you can.) and then simply go back in. If he's not fixed... You have a problem and may end up having to start the game over again. As for the savegame that switches over to your freinds version... That might work but it is possible that it will simply make your freinds version have the same bug. Worth a try though. If you can transfer the savegame that is. I'm not well informed about this sort of thing so I don't know.
In a nutshell you have about three options. Use Ddcheat, transfer the savgame, or just do what Havoc said. Incidently, I can't get Abe's Exoddus to run on my XP but Oddysee works like it just came out of the box. Help anyone?:D |
