A Question about Images (Part II)

I've been trying to get a big image up on a thread, and finally had a URL I could use, but it wouldn't load. Could anyone help me out with this problem at hand?:fuzblink:

How large is the image file size and what type of image is it (extension)? As there is a limit of 1MB and only certain file types can be uploaded.

Alcar...

If you wanna upload images to threads I suggest using an external uploader like imageshack.

I know the image I tried to upload was a JPEG, and I know it was under 1MB. I tried to upload it from Deviantart, but I was told it was an invalid file. Any suggestions? Many thanks for helping me out with this.

Don't "upload" from one site to this one. Sites like imageshack give u a piece of code to stick in your messages that embeds the image where the code is put. The code is something like: [ img ]url-of-image[/ img ] (without spaces of course).
Just go to the link i provided above and upload you image there. Once the upload is done the code is provided. Just copy that code into your text.

I see (I think). Thank you very much, Carnix. So just to make sure I got right, I go to Imageshack, upload the image there, and then post it up here. Or can I just type the code into the original link?

Yes.

You should be able to type the code if u have a link to the image already uploaded elsewhere... I'd go with the first idea just to be safe.

Thank you again, Carnix! But just from someone who might know, is a code necessary to post up an image? I've see quite a few images on the forum that look like they've just been uploaded from Deviantart.

Is it necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No! But it's sterile and I like the taste. :D

=======A more serious approach below===
Whenever I upload an image I always use imageshack and use the code from there. Whether it is necessary or not, it's definitely easier and more convenient then anything else I've tried.
Although I haven't tried DeviantArt - I found imageshack first and have settled with it, and why try something that I don't have a use for?

I see where you're coming from...But I already have a account on DeviantArt, at it would just be a whole lot easier if I could upload an image directly from there. I know I'm not crazy (well, maybe I am), but I have definitely seen images uploaded from Deviant. Help me easily get an image up, ye gods of internet knowledge!

I'm on Tiscali broadband which at the moment is famous for being cheap and shitty so whereas I'd normally go find out for you - I can't.
But presumably if you can find out from Deviantart the url of the image (starts with http:// ends with .jpeg or something similar) then you can paste it in between [ IMG ] [ /IMG ] (no spaces).

Wil 11-03-2008 10:10 AM

Yes, you can hotlink images from DeviantArt. Right click, select ‘Copy image location’ or whatever your browser rewords it as, then past it inside [img] or tags.

crazysteef 11-09-2008 11:57 AM

So I just need to put the URL inside [img] brackets?

E'l Scrabino 11-14-2008 02:51 AM

Yep, pretty much it :) There's also a little button when you're posting that'll wrap [IMG] tags around the highlighted text.

crazysteef 11-21-2008 07:22 PM

I've tried that, but I was told what I was trying to bring over was an invalid file, even though it was smaller than the maximum limit. Now I'm just confused as to what I need to do to bring an image over...

E'l Scrabino...that's an awesome name.:D
