LittleBigPlanet
Anyone else craving this game like I am?
|
KILL ALL THE NAYSAYERS OF THE QU'RAN
|
All I know about this is the name and that Sony put it on hold because it insults muslims... or something.
So what's this game about? |
And yet it's available in Kuwait... go figure.
Yes, yes I want it lots. Mainly because it's cute, rather than because I think I'd like the game. |
:
It's honestly one of my most anticipated games. But, because there's a line from the Qu'ran in it, a bunch of Muslims freaked the fuck out and demanded it be taken from store shelves ACROSS THE WORLD. That pisses me off so much. |
Which begs the question of why they're angry at the game publishers and not at the singer who recorded the song.
|
Actually some know-it-all Sony forum member pointed it out which made Sony freak out, afraid their HQ would be blown to bits so they postponed the release themselfs. As far as I know no muslim complained about it because there was nothing to complain about, the game wasn't released yet. However I do think Sony did a smart thing in taking this out before hand, since you just KNOW there's going to be at least ONE ASSHAT that's going to complain about it. And if one muslim complains, Al-quida complains, and you don't want that.
|
Yes, I read that forum, a muslim play tester noticed it and did actually find it astonishingly offensive and warned Sony that it would be problematic.
It was one of the songs that play during game play that had it. Of course, the developers at Media Molecule could never have known, since it was in Arabic. Two quotes from the Qur'an: "Every soul shall have the taste of death" and "All that is on Earth will perish". While technically true, the imagery conjured by those lines is pretty ghastly, why you would put them in a song is beyond me. Putting the Qur'an to music is considered offensive to muslims (made all the more peculiar by the fact that the artist himself is muslim) and simply those two lines in Arabic in a backing track as lead to this recall. In response, a great deal of players plan on using the creative options in the game to flood the servers with levels with Qur'an extracts scribbled on every surface. Incidentally the amount of ignorance surrounding the reporting of this story is astonishing. I've heard muslims speaking out against against the developers for putting it in as if they were deliberately including Islam in the game to ridicule it. Personally, I think it's time we showed them that they are not uniquely privileged to not be offended. |
What I don't get is why they couldn't release it and put out a patch blocking that one track. I believe that is even what the person who reported it suggested.
|
I wonder what happened to this muslim tester?
Hmmm, you also have to wonder whether the people that would complain and uphold protests are the same one that go on about, jews, christians, women, and whatever else they can think of. |
:
Okay, hold on, first of all, stop trying to control fucking everything, and secondly, don't bring your stupid culture's opinion into something which had absolutely nothing to do with you. Police use dogs, people in the west LIKE dogs, dogs are a staple in the lives of many peoples. I'm so tempted to write a lot of incredibly offensive shit that I'd later regret, so I'll cut it off here. |

Next time a conversation with a muslim takes us down that road, I will.

I'm sure.

Just try and tell him. That car is strapped with more explosives than the World Trade Center. Notice how I worked two conspiracies in there? Obama being a Muslim and the WTC being blown up from beneath? I'm proud of myself. |

I have a bunch of littlebigplanet stickers....I could upload them if anyone wants??

Is it bad that I find that strangely erotic? Is it bad? I hope so. I've been a baaaaaad boy.

On topic again: Played a level of two at a friend's house last night and I am severely tempted to blow all my redundancy money on a PS3, LBP and a widescreen tv. The game is awesome on it's own but is taken to an entirely other level by the wonderfulness that is Stephen Fry.
|
I've been reading about this game for 6 months!!! I'd be playing it now if it wasn't delayed. Right this second instead of testing the internet on my new PS3 by posting here. I will hopefully have it tomorrow, if so, see you all in a few months!

I'd get it if I had a PS3.
I have a Wii instead. |
My brother showed it to me while he was borrowing a PS3 (He's buying a PS3 in January) and he bought LittleBigPlanet. Despite all that I have thought about the PS3 and being a wii fan, I admit...I love that game! It's so cute, creative and awesome. Stephen Fry (who did such a great job of being the narrator) made it even more awesome with not only his work, but the humour he added to it. I love this game! It's awesome, fun, cute and really great. It's even turned me, someone who was rather apprehensive (Sp?) about the PS3, into someone who loves a PS3 game.
|
Ok. I have it now, and it is awesome. The music is also very cool, and the majority of the songs are actually now on my mp3 player.
|
I might got this game after it down's price. I've played the Beta, and I think it's really cool making your own level. Anonyman!, can you make movies from LPB? I read rumour that said it was possible.:fuzconf:
EDIT: Maybe the greatest pack for LBP? LBP & MGS |
Don't double post. Consider this a warning.

Uhh... Hobo. It's not a problem when there's a week between the posts. Anything longer than a day is okay. After all; if you just edit your old post, no-one will realise that there is anything new in the thread.

Quiet you.
