We Want Your Games!

Specifically, we’re chasing up fans with foreign-language copies of Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus. If you have these game discs, and if you have the manuals, then tell us here or email/PM/IM Xavier or myself.

As far as we know, the games were released in the following lanuages:

French, German, Italian, Spanish, and—as Abe a Gogo and Abe ’99—Japanese.

We think we’re all right for the French and Italian versions, as well as Abe a Gogo, but if anyone else could help us fill in the blanks, we’d be so, so appreciative.

Cheers m’dears,
Marx the Mug

With versions complete, the spirits took form. Now their fandom had power...

mlg man 09-11-2008 12:57 AM

so is it just for the hak of it? like whats the point of owning a game you can't understand?

Xavier 09-11-2008 02:14 AM

*Heck. :)

Oh, so Steam wants them? That's a nice thing you're doing. :D

mlg man 09-12-2008 02:01 AM

I guess it's a good thing. What do you get for it?

Wil 09-12-2008 02:21 AM

The games get put up on Steam, that’s what we get for it.

Bullet Magnet 09-12-2008 10:53 AM

Games with invasive viral programs embedded in their code. When the number of installations reached critical mass, the internet and all the computers attached to it will become as one sentient being with a single purpose: destroy the world of man. Except for Max and Xav, who will lord it over the resultant wasteland as gods.

I have the english manual and game. Do u want torrents?

Wings of Fire 09-12-2008 01:03 PM

Strangely enough I get the feeling that Steam might have the English language version of AO and AE, don't ask me how I know this, it's just just a hunch.

Xavier 09-12-2008 03:17 PM

Thank you for the offer but WoF is right, the English version isn't needed ;)

Never Sleeper 09-12-2008 03:52 PM

Hmm... I've got both versions (AO and AE) of the games in german and I think the manuals too. What should I do?

Xavier 09-12-2008 04:16 PM

Send a email/pm to Max :D

Glad you want to help, we had no clue how to get the german versions.

Xavier 09-15-2008 09:08 AM

Thank you Never Sleeper for the German versions :D

Slig_117 09-15-2008 01:50 PM

hmmm Steam wants our games? well if so

"gets is gun"

They will never take my game alive

Tidus 09-20-2008 12:40 PM

I have the original spanish version of Abe's Oddysee, and I can scan the manual.

Xavier 09-24-2008 08:44 AM

Thank you for your help... we are nearly done :)

Tidus 09-25-2008 10:49 AM

But if the people there only want English and French, why Japanese and Spanish?

Wil 09-25-2008 02:53 PM

So that you can play the game in Spanish, my friend.
And so Japanese-speaking people can play the game in Japanese.

Xavier 09-25-2008 10:27 PM

Because we care about unheard minorities!

not that Japanese-speaking or Spanish-speaking people are minorities... :p

I'm not an idiot. I'm saying that in the Steam Forum there's only a request for the French and Italian languages, nobody request Japanese, or Spanish.

Yes.. that is.. But, why? I have never seen people who want to help with sharing all languages.

Most of the people here do nothing for anyone.

Bye :D

You see all the content on The Oddworld Library? Well it has all been collected and hosted on line for our fellow fans to enjoy... we simply like to help.

Oh yeah, and they asked us a little help.

Yeah I know ^^ but I must fix something:

Don't take me wrong please, I'm not meaning in this forum, I'm meaning where I am living :D

I’m sorry, I really didn’t intend to come off as patronizing. We aren’t seeking the foreign-language games just because a couple of people on a forum we don’t frequent would like it. We want this to happen because we genuinely want fans who speak other languages to be able to play Oddworld.

We just enjoy providing people with stuff. It’s not like it’s anything heroic. Just a bit of time, effort, and organization.

That's good. Where will be download links for them?

Wil 09-12-2009 11:49 AM

I'm going to bump this up because we're still lacking some things. Things we lack won't be able to go onto Steam. We're currently lacking Abe's Exoddus in both Spanish and Italian (although we have the manual in Spanish). We also don't have the game manuals for Abe's Oddysee in French or Italian.

We've been told that Abe's Exoddus in Japan was released on PlayStation, but not PC. If anyone can prove this wrong, that would be fantastic.

I don't know if the games we already have will go up when they're ready, or whether the tech and/or marketing guys want to have a complete set before releasing anything, but either way the sooner we have it, the sooner they can port it, the sooner folks can buy, download and play it!

moxco 09-12-2009 02:50 PM

If steam want's these games why can't they get them off OWI?
