3D Scrab
Hi, cause I have made a scrab and I post it in my other thread "3D Paramite" I decided to make a new thread.
I'm still working on this but it's almost done I think.. I'll colorize it and the funniest and easiest part: rigging and animating it ^^ http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/3263/scrabcp6.jpg http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/9891/scrab2gk3.jpg |
wow. A good work.Congratulations .Man,really that's very good.
|
Thanks mate.
|
its too 'blobby' lacks ALOT of details, alot of areas arent sharp enough, and the detail that is there in non-sensical as if you got the brush and randomly drew on places not considering the anatomy or anything.
|
I must say you one thing. Do it yourself and you'll do it like you want. AH! I remember, you can't do one. By the way, I used a reference image for this. Ah, I know what happens. You're angry because you was the only one in this forum that made 3d models, you was the middle of the earth, and now, I came to this forum and you lost the fame. Oh.
Do yourself a favour and get anatomy books. It will help you, I'm sure. |
Cyph3r you're just jealous because you can't do something like that. Seriously, there's constructive criticism, or plain just being an evil bastard, leave him alone.
It's a great start Tidus. :D |
exactly
jordans right you try and do better i tried making a 3d model its hard 9734
|
As I said before, I think this looks really good. I can't wait to see it animated! (If you are going to animate it.) Are you going to make any more Oddworld creatures?
And Cyph3r, everyone's right; you should be a little more constructive with your criticism. All the comments you've made on Tidus' work so far have said the same thing - that there's no detail and the models look blobby. I think one time was enough. |
Am I the only person that can see that Cyph3r is giving harsh but fair constructive criticism and having it shoved back in his face?
Tidus, your models are good but I believe all points made by Cyph3r are good ones, and as for J_dude320; I advise researching the situation before you open your mouth, it just makes you look idiotic. |
See, im used to being on proper 3D forums. People are harsh. It works. As SOON as you start thinking you're good, you'll stop developing your skills. So on those forums everyone doesnt just shout "MY GOD THATS AWESOME", that doesnt do anything apart from giving you a false sense of skill. But rather, they just say straight, whats wrong with it, thus telling you having you can improve the model, and thus your skills. Its alot better for you.
Also I'm not jealous. Check out my 3D Art thread/deviantart please. Well ill say it in a 'nicer' way. It's a good BASE mesh. Now you need to add in the forms. that is, drop the subdiv level and add muscle definition and signs of a skeletal structure. Right now it just looks like a block of clay. Add some harder edges were necessary (such as around the hip bone) And the muscle flow, check out concept images of the scrab. Then add smaller details such as wrinkles around the joints to suggest loose skin and also other bulges and SCARS, scrabs fights, they're bound to have a few battle wounds. Also the mouth needs definition, and definate jaw, teeth, and the innards of the mouth/throat. Keep the subdiv low while blocking in the muscles ect then move up to higher levels when you do the smaller details. (Thanks Wings of Fire) Or, I could just do what everyone wants me to do. HOLY CRAP THATS THE BEST THING EVER. |
:
One thing. I make the model from a good reference image, it's exactly like that, so if it looks bobbly then it's a GT Interactive error. I'm not saying my model is the best but god, Cyph3r looks angry with me. From this: :
To this: :
More things... http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/3263/scrabcp6.jpg If this is no sense of anatomy and :
And.. :
When I said this work is finished? Read it two times after writing... :

Okay.. :

Sorry for this pretty long reply. |
Don't accept my critisisms then. You won't get far as an artist like that. Regardless of what I think. Post this on Polycount. You'll get much of the same i bet.
I can't even be bothered to spoon feed you my critisms and tell you word for word as to why I said what i said. You don't seem to care, nor improve upont the areas I feel, with a little work could be ALOT better. I'll stay out of this thread from now on. Keep up the good work. |
:
|
I don't go to the fan corner very often but I simply had to post now. I agree with Cyph3r and Wings of Fire...
I'm no expert but this model looks good for a beginning, it is in no way an "awesome" 3D sculpt yet. Don't rush your art, it can be improved. Cyph3r was basically trying to help, I've seen his work and he seems like he knows what he is talking about. Never be pleased of your creations too fast. |
I'm not taking ANYBODIES side but: Cyph3r you have been a little bit harsh on the poor guy, and Tidus Cyph3r does a bit of experience in 3D modeling, he would know how to tell people it is bad or good or needs a bit of work...
But as for my comment, I like it, I would like to see more work" Remember thoes 3 words "Don't Rush it" anyway good luck |
:
I said I taken it directly from a GT reference image. If some areas are inaccurate, can be because I don't finished it. :
:
:
And that can be the same for me, I can go in his thread and say "lacks ALOT of details, well ALL details, its like you put the vertices without sense of anatomy" cause I do 3D models too. But I didn't do that. I say I hope he finish his work, and for that kind comment I get this: :
|
Ok, I just had to post. You don't seem to have referred to this post AT ALL.
:
Also, maybe I said it 3 times becuase you never seem to have sorted it. |
Okay I too am going to ignore this thread, Tidus keep up the good work!!
|
:
I was referring at your other replies, Cyhp3r. I didn't quote that comment. And I said, I have other works and projects. I can't waste all my time in the paramite, nor in the scrab. |
Okay, not taking sides or anything. But:
It's a good base model but it does indeed lack a lot of detail still, even without the textures. Scrabs walk on claw like things and their torso could be better defined. Being able to do 3D art is not a free ticket for people to adore you on the internet. There is a golden rule in the online art community which is this: If you don't want to be criticized for your work then don't post it online. Simple as that. There are too many people on DA for example that are in high heavens with every work they post receiving tons of OMG AWSOME comments and then get pissed or insulted if a serious artist comes along and points out some flaws. Cyph3r is a very talented 3D designer, check out some of his work on the forum if you want. He is in a perfect position to tell you what could be better about your work and if you are wise you'll listen to what he has to say and try to do something with it. Here's my tip, from one artist to another: Don't get hostile to someone the second they point out flaws and more importantly; NEVER EVER think you are better then someone else. You made the fatal mistake of assuming that just because you did something rare like 3D no-one else around here would have a clue. Never do that, not even if you KNOW you are better in terms of skills or experience, NEVER throw the 'well if think you can do it better' card. It makes you look so incredibly stupid it's not even funny anymore. On that note, keep on working on this and don't let critique get you down. It's part of the process. Good luck! |

When I came to this forum I didn't know Cyph3r, and I didn't want to get him jealous. That's it. I accept critics from all the people, good or bad, if they are trying to help me. :
Edit this thread, call it "Cyph3r vs. Tidus". If I knew this would happen I wouldn't put anything. |
:
If you had ANY critisms of MY models. Tell me them, id be happy to hear about how I can improve my models. You obviously DON'T accept crits from 'all people, good or bad' becuase as I was the the only one to say something about the flaws of your models you instantly took offense and think it's becuase I'm jealous. Look, if you were to post this on ANY serious 3D forum, you'd get the same. Does that mean that ALL those industry standard 3d modellers are jealous of your work? I think not, it's simply TO HELP YOU IMPROVE. But for some reason, you already think you're the best damn thing since sliced bread. Get off your high horse, man up, and take the freaking critisms and stop acting like a child. |
:
Just because someone doesn't praise you into high heaven right away doesn't mean your work sucks. It just means there's a lot of room for improvement. Now instead of constantly complaining about it go read over those comments again and look at your own work with an objective eye. After you've realized that everything said here is actually true, try to do something with it. And that doesn't have to be over night. As long as you try your best to improve your work and thus your skills. |

You're very welcome.

|
Good work on you latest scrab! I like the legs, I can see some good detail in that! You are improving!!
|
That's getting pretty close. The head and the thing the body sits in need a little work but other than that you're doing pretty good.:D
