Odd Art by Crazysteef
Welcome to the new thread! I hope you enjoy my art (some of it I did awhile ago) and seeing one I've already put up (even though I just finished it recently). In any case, I hope its odd enough for ya. These first two are my earliest drawings from the Oddworld universe, that of our first two heroes, Abe and Munch. It was an exercise in style, but still really fun:p
|
Next up are two I did of Stranger, drawn after I finished the game and felt like drawing something that looked almost like a walking kitty:D.
|
Also, I want to post the image I have on my old thread up on this one. Does anyone know how to do that. Thanks a bunch in advance.:p
|
I guess we can let your other thread die then? =o
Wow I really like Abe and Munch they're both really good! :D Stranger is cool too! I'm falling in love with your style already! :p I wanna see more please! |
Yes! I want it to die so I can put my other image up here!!!!!!!:fuzmad:
|
The only way I know is just to copy the picture from your other thread and paste it here. ^^; Just edit your post with the picture then copy it.
Sorry I'm not much help. |
Your art is cool, but please don't double post (or in this case, trible-post). Use the Edit button. :)
|
Matriar is right.
Nice work although I can't help but notice they look practically identical to some concept art found in The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants and on Togg. Did you copy or did you just draw it in your own style? Either way I hope to see something more original.:D |
Ok guys, here's my first true bit of original Oddworld artwork. It took me forever, but it was worth the effort.:)
This image is the result of some daydreaming I did of Oddworld history. The creature the steef is fighting is an early wolvark, whom were once (according to me) powerful creatures that lived in the northernmost region of the Mongo River. They lived in harmony with their environment as long as they stayed in their region of the river, but once the industrial species discovered the wolvarks' love of Grubb flesh, they moved them to the area of the Mongo River we know and love. Here, the wolvarks acted as invasive species, and almost wiped the grubbs out. The steefs managed to defeat the wolvarks and beat them back, and the ones that were left were taken to various labs and put through intense programs of "positive eugenics" until they evolved into the evil henchmen we know them as today. It's something like what humans have done to pigs, dog, and many other animals. |
I like them, espicially your walvark and steef one! But just remember, when you triple posted above you didn't give time for anyone to comment on them, try posting a couple, waiting for somone to reply or comment and post some more. But still I would love to see some more!!
|
That's not have bad. I like your drawing of the Steef fighting the Wolvark. You should try to do more original work. I like your style of drawing better in that area since you seem to be relying on your knowledge of anatomy and shading rather than another drawing. The design of that ancient Wolvark was nice. Do you have any oringal creatures of your own?
|
Thanks guys! Especially thanks to OddYouko for the advice of how to post my picture up here. :fuzwink:
As for what I've put up so far, the first are early studies I did in the anatomy of the characters and the handling of ink and pen. But I use images in original work all the time! I must have used at least four different images for the steef and wolvark one, since I find my drawings look much better if I use reference material instead of relying just on knowledge of how all the bits are put together. As for original creatures, you may see one or two appearing in the future...:fuzvamp: |
You're welcome crazysteef. :)
Your art is really good and the Steef vs Wolvark picture is still awesome! :D And I really can't wait for more! =D |
OK! Here's more! This one's of Abe and Munch going off to save the gabbits, save the muds, save some other things along the way, and in general have a grand ol' time of running for their lives.:D Just click to enlarge to see it in all its oddness. (^_^)
|
Blargh...this one of a lonely Stranger staring out at a town at twilight took me a long time, but doesn't look as good as some of my others. Still, I hope you guys enjoy!
|
The one of Abe and Munch is great! Abe doesn't look too happy. That last one's really good as well.
|
Wow I love those two pictures! =//O
Poor Stranger I wonder if he likes being alone all the time. More! :D |
Thanks, GlacierDragon! But I imagine you wouldn't be happy either if you had to lug a 30-some pound Gabbit over hill and dale.:D
Thanks OddYouko! Stranger, as he is from a herd species, probably doesn't like being alone, but he must for his survival. *Sniff* Poor kitty.:fuzemb: |
cool, so this is finally your new art thread :D I just can say I luv it
especially the last two pictures ^ - ^ |
:
Still, looking back at the pictures, I noticed that they all look somewhat hazy.I'm thinking of either using a harder lead to shade or switch to some material that doesn't smudge so easily. We'll see what happens... |
:
and about the haziness, I've got that problem too sometimes, if you have photoshop or something like that it helps when you add some contrast but also make less color saturation. well I'm verry bad at explaining things but I hope it helps you though. :D |
Thanx for the advice, Scipionyx! Lead can be a beast to work with, and I appreciate any advice as to how to help out my drawings.:p
Unfortunately, I think it might be awhile before I post anything new up...stuff in the world is keeping me busy. So "farewell for now, for who knows when we shall meet again..."(quote courtesy of Shakespeare) |
It's really good!! I was just wondering: do you know the first concept sketch of Abe by Steven Olds?? However, the last one is beatiful (the idea of a sunset is great!!!)
|
Thanks a bunch, totor! Yeah, I know its a concept sketch; I was just practicing using the mediums.
Now here's one of Stranger actually looking happy for a change. :D It's a crude sketch, but I thought it was cute enough to post.:p I have a feeling that Stranger's never happier than when he's communicating with nature, but don't let him know I know he smiles or else he'll kill me to keep up his reputation! Note: Crazysteef's body was found floating in the Mongo River later on today... |
rofl!
xD this is great crazysteef!!! The way he smiles... :goof: I really like that... it looks as if some paparazzo had taken a photo of him or something like that... |
Aww! I gotta hug him!! xD
He looks so happy there! Now he'll probably kill me too now that I said that. xD |
