A Battle for the Ages

This is, hopefully, a good drawing to start out with. But eve if it wasn't, it was a heck of a lot fun to draw!! I want to do this style, known as chiraoscuro, more in the future! Maybe i'll try it on Abe next...

Um....you forgot to add the drawing to your post.

Wow that drawing really inspired me so I drew this...
Just check out the detail in the armor. It was supposedly crafted by the Mudomo I hope I was able to portray that well. I always imagined the Mudomo to be these master crafters/artists like during the renaissance. I've been working on this for awhile.
Edit: Perhaps I'll draw Abe next. The original Odd Hero needs more screen time.

Are these two posts some kind of joke?

There's nothing but words. Is this word art or is there something I'm missing?

OddYouko 07-25-2008 07:41 AM

crazysteef I think you forgot to post your art...

GlacierDragon 07-25-2008 08:28 AM

Am I the only one who can see the magnificant image of a chiraoscuroised Munch?

Ok, I'm only joking. And yeh, I think you need to upload the image crazysteef.

Venks 07-25-2008 09:20 AM

Hehe I was trying to make a joke of it, but nobody else was cool enough to say they had posted an awesome picture and that they were gonna draw Abe next. I totally set it up for ya'll. :p

crazysteef 08-09-2008 07:30 PM

Yeah. I'm sorry guys.I'm not very computer savvy...I'll try to upload it now. It's not to bad, i guess...

crazysteef 08-09-2008 08:01 PM

Yeah, sorry guys, I'm not computer savvy and i've been gone for a couple of weeks. But i'll try to post it now, in all its glory. 9633

Please don't double post crazysteef. :)

And wow that is an awesome picture! I wanna see more from you! :D
What's the thing he's fighting?

crazysteef 08-11-2008 04:40 PM

Thanks a bunch OddYuko! Sorry about the double post. It's just one of my blunders in trying to get used to the way this website works. But I will make it up by posting up something I'm working on right now later. I was thinking of posting this one again on a different thread, just so people can see it right away. :)

As for the creature my steef is fighting, it's actually an ancestor of the wolvarks. I figured it would make sense, since we hear steefs evolved as guardians of the Mongo river.
Anyway, in this version of Oddworld history, the wolvarks originally were semi-aquatic creatures that came from the northermost regions of the Mongo River. They were fine as long as they stayed in their region, but once the industrial species discovered their love of Grubb flesh, they sent them to the area of the Mongo river that we know and love as an early attempt of Grubb "control." Here, these early wolvarks acted as invasive species, almost wiping out the Grubb population along the Mongo river. The Steefs managed to hold the Wolvarks back and eventually drive them away, and the industrial species performed many acts of "positive eugenics" on the remaining wolvarks so that they evolved into a class of blue-collared grunts. Kind of like what we've done to pigs and dogs.

:D I really like that picture crazysteef! And the story behind it is also cool. keep up the good work!

GlacierDragon 08-13-2008 03:47 AM

Wow, that is good. I'll be looking forward to seeing more art from you.

crazysteef 08-14-2008 02:34 PM

Thank you everyone for giving me such good grades on my first drawing! For the sake of convenience, I'm going to be posting this image and others on a new thread, which will be my true fanart page. I'm looking forward to putting new images up, as well as seeing more of the art of my fellow inhabitants. Until then, stay odd.:fuzvamp:
