Questionnaire on Message Editors
 
I've been doing some thinking, and I'd like to know what message editor interface people use on bulletin boards. It'll go towards research I am conducting.

So, do you use the:

Basic Editor
A simple text box.

Standard Editor
Extra formatting controls.

Enhanced Interface
Full WYSIWYG editing.

Furthermore, if you are not using the Enhanced Interface, how do you mark up your posts (make text bold, italic, underlined, etc)? Do you:
  • Use the buttons, OR
  • Type in the BBCode yourself, OR
  • Type in the HTML yourself

I use the Standard Editor and make use of BBCode through shortcuts or the buttons, unless I need to use a HTML element not supported.

Standard Editor. For bolding and italics I use the CTRL-B and CTRL-I shortcuts but otherwise use the buttons. I only use html when I feel the need to use strikethrough.

I usually type all the code myself. At this point, it's faster for me not to look up. I guess I use the standard editor.

Standard editor and I type in the BBcode myself unless, like Nate says I need to use a strikethrough or one of these. Enhanced editor made my blogging go all funny.

The reason I use it is because I had to change to it to get my sig pic in and I guess I couldn't be arsed to change it

I use the full editor but I should prolly honestly say that I hardly ever use the actual 'Reply' button and just jam pretty much all my posts in the quick reply box :).

I use the standard editor. I had the buttons showing, but I don’t use them. I didn’t know I could get rid of them, but I will hang onto them for now, because I do use ‘Increase Size’, ‘Switch Editor Mode’, and ‘Colors’ when I’m making one of those epic posts like the MSI stats.

But normally I don’t use the buttons, and generally I intuitively type HTML rather than BBCode, including for tiny text. The only exception is of course [quote].

I use buttons for like bold and italics, but I look up the code for anything more advanced than that.

Alternate between Basic (Quick Reply?) box, and Enhanced when writing something lengthy. I type in the [bbcode] and manually.
