Lorne Lanning in IGN's Hot Seat

:

Hot Seat is a new feature on Insider where we'll bring you a more personal portrait of some of the most prominent game developers in the world. Instead of asking them to pitch you their latest games, we'll be digging deeper into their personal lives, tastes, and inspiration in the hopes of creating a better understanding of who they really are. We'll be aiming to show you the human being behind the game. In the tradition of all good Hot Seats, nothing will be considered out of bounds or off-topic.

This was actually quite entertaining. You can come across things like this:
:

Squirrels are hilarious.

Jordan 06-11-2008 10:39 PM

Agreed. Squirrels are indeed hilarious. :D

Hang on a sec, Quadrilogy? Shouldn't it be Quintology?

Ninjaxe 06-11-2008 10:51 PM

Lanning is has a good sense of humor, good find xavier but ewwwww. Why he likes Hairy Woman?? HAHA :D I don't expect an answer please. I just stating that in case no one noticed that. Maybe that why Oddworld is currently on stand still :P

Nate 06-11-2008 10:52 PM

Why, because there are too many hairy women in Emeryville that distract him?

Interesting facts:
#1 More information on Lorne's mother in my released-as-soon-as-we-can interview.
#7 That's Josh Gabriel who worked on AO and AE.
#20 I have a sudden wish to have been at that party.

Matriar 06-12-2008 06:57 AM

Wow, I've ALWAYS wanted to see this kind of personal interview about him! I already know about the Oddworld games, and stuff, but not much about his creator.

It kinda hit me when I read that thing about his mom, though. :(

But the other answers were kinda fun to read, especially the thing about the people Lorne envies, and the squirrels.

Man, meeting Lorne Lanning in person is a thing that I got on my list about things I wanna do before I die!

EDIT: By the way, thanks to Xavier for bringing us that interview!

Oddsville 06-12-2008 11:13 AM

Good interview, shows a different side of him. Cant wait for yours Nate!

Wil 06-12-2008 12:18 PM

Yes, thank you, Xavier. A brilliant interview.

Mac Sirloin 06-14-2008 04:10 AM

ITT:IGN wants more money for their shitty service.

Amakir 06-15-2008 05:22 AM

I had hoped of more information on the new Oddworld inhabitats game.

Nate 06-15-2008 06:00 AM

It's not that sort of interview; the Hot Seat is about getting to know the people, not to promote projects.

totor 06-18-2008 12:27 PM

It's funny to have an interview of the person who makes me dream.

Xavier 06-18-2008 10:40 PM

have fun, there are plenty more over here:
