Very old videos

Thanks to Oddsville who found back his old CD that came as a bonus with his GameWizards walktrough to Abe's Oddysee, and has send some of the movies of it to me. We can now give you some very old interviews with Sherry McKenna and Lorne Lanning videos filmed inside the old OWI studio.

According to Oddsville more will follow, and I'll put a special page up on TOC to download them all from there when I have some time.

Ooo! I have this same CD! I remember Max coming to me a while ago and asking for these videos. Sorry I didn't get back to you on that one...

Jordan 06-11-2008 06:10 AM

GOD! Look at how young Sherry looks there... Thanks for the vids Xav.

OddYouko 06-11-2008 07:50 AM

 Wow! Awesome!
I'm downloading them now!

Xavier 06-11-2008 08:22 AM

It's on TOC now :p

not that it's actually changing anything

Psychonaut 06-11-2008 08:31 AM

Wow, thats pretty old.. :) Does anyone remember on a presentation of Munch Oddysee in 2001(or 2000?) by Lorne where he was voice acting Munch since the game doesn't have sound at that time?? I can't find it on Youtube...

Oddsville 06-11-2008 08:42 AM

I've just uploaded more to Xav, I should only have three more left to get uploaded. In some of them you can see some artwork that I don't think we've seen before. But its quick so you have to pay attention...

Xavier 06-11-2008 10:08 AM

here they are:

A Slig with mechanical Scrab legs? I so want to see that in a game!

Jordan 06-11-2008 10:55 AM

Just finished watching them all. There's a lot of interesting stuff in those videos, like that first model thing we see. That's Maggie, right? I wonder if she was planned for AO... Thanks again Oddsville and Xav.

Windows Media Player doesn't play AVI files unless you have a codec, and I've no idea how to get one. Install Quicktime, and it'll play perfectly. ;)

Xavier 06-11-2008 12:51 PM

Normally my avi files work nice with WMP but I had to use quicktime to view them.

Matriar 06-11-2008 04:18 PM

Thanks to Oddsville and Xavier for bringing these videos! :D

I'm downloading them right now...

OddYouko 06-11-2008 04:54 PM

Thanks a lot Oddsville and Xavier!! :D
I'm downloading them as well.

Nate 06-11-2008 05:47 PM

My guess is that you should probably download the DivX codec.

Yay for Sherry appearing in an interview! I don't think I've seen her speaking before. There's some cool stuff in there.

Admittedly, the voiceover guy mispronounces the 'Luis' in San Luis Obispo (the 'S' isn't silent). On the other hand, the pics of Morro Bay at the beginning gave me warm fuzzies of the time I went kayaking there on my birthday.

Oddsville 06-11-2008 10:57 PM

More to come tomorrow, I must get to bed now. Just lost in poker and its nearly 3am :|

Amakir 06-12-2008 06:35 AM

Cool. Now i must drag my Playstation home to my Aunt and play this game with her again. :)

Matriar 06-12-2008 06:43 AM

That's also the first time I saw McKenna talking in an interview, yeah. I really like her from what she said and how she said it. No wonder, she was a big help for Lanning.

Again, thanks for those videos!

It's kinda weird to see Lanning with this hairstyle and without that beard, though. :D

Thanks again Oddsville! :D

Matriar 06-13-2008 08:23 AM

Awesome! Thank you!

I'll download them as soon as I get home. These school computers here block almost anything about the internet.
Which is a lame try to get me back to school work, really.

OddYouko 06-13-2008 09:27 AM

Awesome! =O
I'm downloading them right away! Great stuff Oddsville and Xavier! :D

Jordan 06-13-2008 10:08 AM

Done. ;) Thanks once again guys. Sherry and Lorne are really nice people, I think they're underrated. I'd love to work for them some time, the studios sound awesome.

totor 06-18-2008 12:01 PM

It's amazing!! Thank's so much, Xavier and Oddsville!!!!!!:fuzgrin::D
One question, in the video number 8, in the 41' second, is it Steven Olds??

Kyle 06-30-2008 12:19 AM

Thanks for the videos! I know Oddsville was working on uploading them on youtube, but I have just uploaded them all to save him some work and for anyone who has trouble downloading them to be able to view them. Took about 2 hours, but it all worked out in the end. I'm not sure how to make the playlist show up on my youtube profile, but here's the link to the playlist.

The main youtube page is www.youtube.com/oddworldvideos.

Xavier 06-30-2008 06:29 AM

Well I could do an official "The Oddworld Cinema" youtube page, but I'm not really sure people will find it useful...

what do you guys think?

Jordan 06-30-2008 07:26 AM

I think it's a great idea. It's helpful for those who haven't got time to download them, and they can watch them whenever they like. ;)

That would definitely be useful, but some videos on there (particularly the Oddworld "movie") might not upload since it's a bit long. But I'm sure others would work. If you want to continue this idea you could have this account to save you some work unless you want to have the name "oddworldcinema" or something.

And it's much easier than opening files and watching them one by one. Playlists are much organized as they continue along in a sequence.

Wil 06-30-2008 01:51 PM

I was going to start investigating a way for the Oddworld Cinema to stream movies as well as provide them for download. I’d personally be much happier with that than giving them all to YouTube or any other off-site server.

OddYouko 07-01-2008 02:46 PM

What about the "Movies of Oddworld DVD" can that be put on YouTube?

Wil 07-01-2008 03:06 PM

Ask first if it can be put on the Oddworld Cinema. Xav and I have considered this between ourselves before, but I forget what our conclusions were. It’s definitely something we would love to do.
