Why 2020?

I noticed that Alcar's signature tells: release of Citizen Siege (2020). 2020?!?!? Wasn't it in 2009? Not much time ago, it told: release of Citizen Siege (2009). Why does it tell 2020 now?

Wil 06-09-2008 02:10 AM

Matt Lee told us they were aiming for 2009. Then immediately Lorne said ‘it’ll be more like 2010.’ But we’re halfway through 2008 and haven’t heard any word about whether they’re even animating the film yet. We have a long wait. Alcar’s sig is a joking reference to this.

11 years to make a film?

Wil 06-09-2008 04:32 AM

Hahahaha!

Sanssouci 06-09-2008 04:58 AM

A joke, abe is now.

Oddsville 06-09-2008 06:34 AM

So funny yet so depressing...*cries*

ParasiteSklent 06-09-2008 07:20 AM

Knowing them, it probably will come out in 2020. I'll be 30 years old, sitting in a basement somewhere, shouting, "Where the hell is my Citizen Siege?!"

abe is now! 06-09-2008 09:35 AM

If it will come out in 2020, I'll be 26 years old :(. But it's joke, isn't it? I hope it'll come out soon... go OWI!!! XD

Xavier 06-09-2008 12:58 PM

Do you have any idea how long it takes to do those kind of films? 4 or 5 years would actually be quite short

Wil 06-09-2008 02:06 PM

Absolutely. Bear in mind that most of not all the films nominated for Academy Awards for the past three years were in development for 4–7 years before being greenlit for production. You want Lorne to get his Oscar this time, don’t you?

mudling 06-11-2008 04:01 AM

Considering who gets Oscars these day, probably not.
It is a long time, but I'm not realy waiting, I've got my most important moments of my life comming up, I've put my self in a state of mind to try and not look forward to it, untill we get more news of course.

Dont worry, imagine how old lanning will be then. Lorne sitting back sipping tea with oddworld mug talking about the good old days :D once upon a time I invented oddworld.... How much time has he wasted on this movie if this goes on.

I say he should gives us something else to entertain us. Bring back that multiplayer game. What was it? Hand of Odd? At least we can make our stories instead of playing the games over and over again until you know every corner and loop hole, there is. I bet most fans have become Prima guides themselves :)

Give us something...we need to be entertained Mr Lorne Lanning. I don't know if he will hear or read this but it good for express my opinions and pour my heart out in wanting more material on oddworld.

abe is now! 06-12-2008 04:26 AM

Ok, I hope that when Citizen Siege comes out I'll still love Oddworld :pipe:. But I think it's possible... Oddworld is a part of my life.

You do know Citizen Siege isn't about Oddworld, right?

11 years to make a film?

I've heard that the Disney's "Dinosaur" took 6 years to make, for example. Probably, because of the fur of these freaking monkeys there. And the scales of the many dinosaurs... but they did an amazing job.

So yeah, I agree with those that said that even 4 or 5 years is a short time to make an awesome movie.

In 2020, if I'm still alive in that time, I'll be 31 and hoping that Lorne Lanning doesn't retire before realizing more Oddworld games after the movie!

...how old is he, anyway?

Xavier 06-12-2008 07:44 AM

I think he is 43 or something like that...

Oh, well he wouldn't retire in eleven years. He might inbetween the sixties though.

Matriar 06-12-2008 08:09 AM

I already had nightmares about the day when I get the message that Lorne Lanning is dead.
Like an accident, or a high age, or illness, or whatever. Before I could ever meet him.

I thought it was going to take place on Oddworld... Do you know the setting?

From my understanding of it, it's going to be set in some sort of dystopian future. I don't know much about it, though...but it definitely won't be on Oddworld.

Wings of Fire 06-21-2008 04:21 PM

Unless I'm really really unlucky again like last time >:C.

http://oddworldlibrary.net/toe/Citizen_Siege I win through linkage.

Ajiellyn 06-21-2008 11:54 PM

Haha, I totally believed the 2020 thing; I'm so glad it's a joke.

I said, "by the time Citizen Siege comes out, what it depicts will be reality!"

abe619 06-26-2008 02:06 PM

no , a CGI film doesn't take this much of time , it would take from 7 months to 3 1/2 years.

Xavier 06-30-2008 06:26 AM

Well that's not what I've heard and read on specialised sites... where did you get the impression it could be done in 7 months?
