Oddworld new continent

If you look at the map od Oddworld, we have seen only a small part of the whole planet. The Mudos continent. Any ideas about another continent and its name??

totor 04-30-2008 08:19 AM

I don't know, but maybe a place where there is no glukkons, but a lot of mudokons, who escaped from Mudos, where there is only now Glukkons and their industrial factories. All the mudokons will respect nature on this new continent.

Bullet Magnet 04-30-2008 08:21 AM

We know nothing about the other continents. Personally, I call the northernmost one "Arctos," because I like the name.

All we have ever heard about the rest of Oddworld is that at one stage Fangus was meant to be set on it. If you ignore the design imagery and read Oddblog's interview with Lorne where he describes what the story of the game was about (before the humanoid designs made him decide to set it off Oddworld), you'll get a good impression of what part of the rest of Oddworld may be like.

My oppinion is that beyond Mudos is a very industrialized world, like that one that can be seen from the first concept drawings of Citizen Siege... Some glimpse of that we have already seen.

Can you show it on the Oddworld map?

Bullet Magnet 05-01-2008 01:16 AM

Maybe. Can you see a large, icy, northern landmass? That'll do.

Abe's journey through the Quintology is entirely on Mudos.

Actually, it has been hinted at that the Quintoloy may leave the confines of Mudos. Also, Psychonaut, please take care not to double post again in the future.

I dunno. I too am curious about the other continents of Oddworld. I once started a fanficiton about another continent.

Psychonaut 05-01-2008 11:59 AM

Do you have any name for that continent?

I'm not sure whether you realise this or not, but Citizen Siege is not set on Oddworld at all; it's set on an alternative future Earth.

Psychonaut 05-01-2008 03:30 PM

I know that allready, but I mean that somthing similar than Citizen Siege can be the rest of Oddworld.

Sanssouci 05-02-2008 01:42 AM

Oddworld doesn't have a fixed geography anyway. If I remember correctly, Oddworld was to be 10x the size of Earth and Mudos was to be the size of Nicaragua. On a map of Oddworld, Mudos should then look to be 10x smaller than Nicaragua looks on a map of the Earth.
Maybe they've changed their minds and the map is official canon which they'll always refer to in future, but I doubt it.

Bullet Magnet 05-02-2008 01:53 AM

Max knows. Eh? It's much funnier from your fingertips.

Wil 05-02-2008 03:24 AM

Sanssouci, you are right. Mudos was once said to be the size of Nicaragua, but Oddworld.com has since said it is the main continent. I can only hope this means in terms of the story of the Oddworld Quintology and not in terms of geography. The Oddworld Map, we’ve all decided, is closer to Oddworld in spirit than in letter. Like Dear Alf, it’s not something to use as a concrete, proscriptive guide.

Psychonaut 05-02-2008 10:14 AM

Maybe we need to get an update of the map...;-) hev you link to the mapin the highest resolution possible?

Psychonaut 05-02-2008 01:54 PM

Thanks a lot :) I was searching 4 this map very long.

MeechShrykull1029 05-07-2008 02:42 PM

Are you sure that's a real map? The Northern part of Mudos has ice on it, so how can tropical jungles like Monsaic Lines and Necrum exist on the same continent? Isn't Mudos supposed to be small?

Wings of Fire 05-07-2008 02:54 PM

Of course that's a real map, what isn't real is your sense of perception.

Oddworld is 10x bigger than earth so Mudos is 10x bigger than what it looks, also position in relation to the poles and equator isn't the only factor in climates, other things have to be considered E.G.: wind currents.

MeechShrykull1029 05-07-2008 02:56 PM

Mudos isn't even the size of Nicaragua (it's supposed to be) on this map. Isn't there an Oddworld map by Oddworld Inhabitants?

Wings of Fire 05-07-2008 03:02 PM

Yes? The one Max posted.

And this one http://oddworldlibrary.net/archives/...=RAMO0187.jpg7

MeechShrykull1029 05-07-2008 03:06 PM

Mudos isn't the size of Nicaragua on these maps.

Psychonaut 05-08-2008 03:43 AM

Nicaragua for a comparision of size

Wil 05-08-2008 04:01 AM

Yes, MeechShrykull1029. You are right. You will just have to get over this inconsequential discrepancy.
