Why isn't Oddworld on Steam yet?

I'd buy them again if they were....

Xavier 04-14-2008 09:31 PM

The way I see it is that Oddworld should be available everywhere, so steam would be an excellent step in that dirrection.

Xbox Live Arcade would be nice too :)

Chubfish 04-15-2008 06:19 AM

I totally agree, it should definately be on Steam.

DarkHoodness 04-15-2008 03:44 PM

Same here, except I wouldn't buy something I already own, but would recommend them to many, many people. Even old DOS classics like Commander Keen are on Steam. They could re-release AO and AE and make a tiny bit more money to speed up the development process of CS. :)

Shame a PC version of Stranger won't ever exist, though.

mudling 04-15-2008 03:50 PM

I'm not too familar with Steam, but I say yes, as many places as possible. I'm still looking for AE (My mum's being realy hesitant over letting me buy stuff over the internet.
But Xboxlive, complete with achievements, would be even better!:D
And of course, it'll upon more people up to oddworld.

Ribeye King 04-15-2008 04:32 PM

yeah Xbox Live would be excellent too. AE was my first Odd experience and I was so amazed with, well, pretty much everything about that game that I've bought every Oddworld game and been in love ever since.

Munch I wanted to love more than I actually loved but, that's another discussion. I would totally buy AO and AE and probably SW again (since I loaned it to a guy who has since moved far from here =)

Oh yeah, I almost forgot....

You must know about Steam, ya' know, created by Valve, somewhere around a 10 million user install base, already has games from tons of other publishers and developers like Epic, Rockstar and id to name a few

If you don't know Steam I recommend you give it a look, Half-Life is another universe well worth exploring :compmad::kissy:

sorry i let my daughter choose the stickers (smileys)

I collect everything that has to do with Oddworld. You can't collect downloads. That's why I don't want Oddworld to be in download format.

Seriously... what are the chances of you asking that question right now?!

I just love the sound of that...

Fuzzle King 04-16-2008 11:00 AM

iv seen a little bit of steam, and i think it'll be a good idea if OW was added to it.but as i already have both pc versions, there would be no need for me to buy it.

Heh, yeah, I asked this on another topic a little while ago. This would totally be an AWESOME idea. Steam is a great service and I really need to play the latest two titles.

If it does happen, we all have to buy the games another 5 times in order to support OWI, and then get everyone we know to do the same :p

OMG OMG OMG: ARE YOU SERIOUS!?

mudling 04-17-2008 05:21 AM

I have orange box, so I've heard of it, but I have it for the 360, so was never entirely sure what it was. And that's what wikipedia's for. :D
Oh, and regardless, of my knowledge of it, given OW's current postion, they should aim to publish their games on all platforms realistically achievable.

MeechShrykull1029 04-20-2008 01:38 PM

Why do you all want Oddworld to be in download format? You won't be able to own it in material. It would be different from the original games.

Wings of Fire 04-20-2008 03:36 PM

Discs get damaged and are therefore badlulz, I like the idea of owning a material version of a game on the PC but feel much more secure knowing I have a crack for it (or whatever its called).

I prefer having a game on disc. There is nothing worse than having a game then reformating your hard drive.

Xavier 04-21-2008 10:14 AM

With Steam reformatting shouldn't be a problem, as you can re-download it any time :p

Fuzzle Guy 04-21-2008 01:21 PM

Wow. Where has Steam been all my life! :p

sam250 04-22-2008 11:59 AM

Yeah, its a pretty nifty peice of software. Because your games are linked to your username and password, you can actually download and play the games on any computer provided you can log in on them. But if, say, your friend logged on to your computer, he wouldn't be able to play any of your games even though they are installed. Its a good system.
