Search Engines
This one is a random thought that just occurred to me when I saw the reference to UrbanDictionary in the Slang thread. What search engines do you have in your Search List in Firefox (or whatever the equivalent thing is in IE7).
Mine are, in order: Google (AU) GoogleImage Wikipedia Dictionary.com Thesaurus.com Youtube eBay IMDb Wayback Machine Urban Dictionary |
I simply have the GoogleToolbar, so I don't use the built-in search bar on FireFox much. If I used it more often I'd stick DeviantArt, E-Bay and Wikipedia on there, though.
I often search via the toolbar: Google Site Search Google Images Google Vids (including YouTube) Dictionary.com |
I don’t use the built‐in search bar, because it’s much easier to just use search keywords. I swap between computers a fair bit, but ones I use regularly that spring to mind:
Google (g) Google News (n) Wikipedia (w) Wiktionary (wd) Dictionary.com (d) YouTube (y) Wayback Machine (a) The Oddworld Encyclopædia (t) Urban Dictionary (u) Google again, with the word ‘lyrics’ as an automatic search term (l) I’m also very happy with the keywords I use for regular bookmarks. Some selected examples: Google Mail (gm) Oddworld Forums (o) Google Reader (r) My university account, called Portal (p) I loooove Firefox. :D |
I use goodsearch.com because using it helps charities and it's just a few clicks.

I have:
Yahoo Amazon.co.uk Answers.com Creative Commons eBay Rollyo Wiki But I've never edited it so it's just what came with my firefox. =/ - Rexy |
Italians:
Google Images Virgilio.it Alice.it Libero.it MSN Google Video Youtube and others... I will add them when I will find or remember them. |
Google is the only one i use. I have quick searches set up for Wikipedia, dictionary.com and urban dictionary. Anything else is found via google

Unfortunately, most of us don't speak Italian that well...

No problem... |
*Slaps AlienMagi* Now go sit in a corner! And be quiet!!
I use Google, it's my start page. For any other references I go to Wikipedia. Google and Wikipedia sleep together often and create wonderful delicious informative babies! |
