I can't open these movies, I can only listen to music. It tells have been found no codecs and so I have to find them in Internet? Why this?

AbesGenerationX 02-12-2008 04:23 AM

Mmm....

1) Try to download MPC Star, Media Player Classic Star, an awesome program who can open .AVI

2) Try to download K-Lite Codec Pack Mega

Hope i helped you. ;)

I have a codec in my PC: Vista Codecs. Maybe that codec isn't so good to open those movies? And I use GOM Player. Do you think it is a good player?

AbesGenerationX 02-12-2008 04:59 AM

I don't know.... but one thing is sure: MPC Star is able to open ;)

Wil 02-12-2008 05:18 AM

On my Windows, Media Player Classic (never heard of the Star) and the associated K‐Lite codecs play these AVI files perfectly. I didn’t even know the AVIs were dodgy until people started reporting problems.

The only problem is that I can't see anything but I can listen the audio. I think GOM Player can open those files, but Vista Codecs can't. I don't think I will uninstall Vista Codecs because my crappy Vista can't work without it. So I ask: do you know if Vista can work without Vista Codecs, but if it can with K‐Lite codecs?

Being able to listen to audio but not see video is a common symptom of not having DivX. Try this: http://www.divx.com/

Also, did anyone else have the same thought as me when seeing the title of this thread.

What thought did you have? Another like Christmas tree?

My thought was ‘Oh, AIN wants to watch a video he hasn’t got codecs for. It’s probably those pesky Cinema files that don’t seem to work right.’ And I won. What thought did you have?

I love you, AIN. Forever.

I thought that AIN had been browsing through the forum history and was enquiring about old trolls.

Did you think of an old member of this forum?

Anyway if someone finds out what exact codec that needs to be installed I'll gladly post a link on the Cinema to avoid futher confusion.

abe is now! 02-13-2008 12:41 PM

Ok, Xavier you can do it. Someone can open those movies, but I don't think everybody can. Especially if they're using an old OS or an old computer.

Nate 02-14-2008 05:39 AM

Have you tried the divx codecs, as I suggested in my original post?

abe is now! 02-14-2008 06:14 AM

As I said, I don't know if I can uninstall Vista Codecs because my computer doesn't work without it. And I can't install two codecs. I will try. But I want to ask: has anyone ever heard about the problem of Vista, I mean that without a code any codec it can't work well?

Nate 02-14-2008 06:49 AM

I have no idea what you're saying. You don't need to uninstall anything to install DivX; it operates in addition to your current codecs.

I really wish you'd make sense once in a while.

abe is now! 02-14-2008 12:32 PM

Why? I was just wondering. I need a codec but it must resolve two problems: Vista's bug and movies bug.

Nate 02-15-2008 01:00 AM

Well. Try installing the DivX codec and see if it solves BOTH problems.

*sigh*

abe is now! 02-15-2008 05:12 AM

Ok, I am doing it, Nate. Thank you.
