Ok, so where to start...Do you know of any similar real life characters(actors) that reminded you on Oddworld characters?? Like Munch or Abe, or Sligs...

Sorry. I haven't even played SW and so I don't know Sekto. I mentioned him just because I watched some SW's movies and I thought it was as evil as Hitler.

Molluck is not a dictator, he is the chairman of the board of Rupture Farms right? that means he has to listen to the views of the other board members thus he does not have the total power needed to be called a dictator.

I really don't think that Gates is that similar to Molluck. Some of Microsoft's actions may have been questionable at times but never completely amoral. Plus, Billy-G does some very good philanthropic work.

The fact is that the plight of the Mudokons was based on real world examples of slavery - I think Lorne mentioned the African diamond cartels - and, frankly, the companies that do practise such immoral actions tend not to call attention to themselves so you would not be able to name the CEOs.

Abe may not carry weapons, but he’s the militant leader of an armed revolt, not to mention a terrorist who has killed hundreds. Gandhi he is not.

Although both Sekto and Bush have been mentioned here, nobody’s put them together yet. Just think, Sekto has invaded the Mongo River to take their natural water resources for himself, to sell at inflated prices to consumers across Oddworld. To do this, he has committed genocide, bombing native villages and temples to the ground, destroying lives and culture.

There are probably urban legends in Oddworld’s consumer hubs that Wolvarks encounter plate‐sized Bolamites in the desert that eat live flesh and run as fast as Shock Jeeps.

I've had that thought nagging at me since I first heard Abe described as a "terrorist" in AE.

Yes, it’s a powerful idea. Shortly after 9/11, when the world was still in shock and everyone was leaving messages registering their shock on the Internet, including on OWF, it occurred to me that Abe is a terrorist. I didn’t get as far as predicting the demonization of terrorists to justify invasion of foreign countries, let alone thinking about how such actions would exacerbate terrorist ideas, but I did realize that the terrorists did what they did because they had a cause and a need. Don’t for a second think I will justify any form of terrorism, but I will say that fighting back against people isn’t going to cause them to lay down arms. The final connections were made in my head after Lorne promoted September 12th at GameCity, and I played it myself.

I don’t wish for this thread to turn into a pure discussion of Earth politics, but this is one part of Oddworld that has helped shape the way I think about the world through its ‘cracked mirror’ reality.

On the other hand, Abe has only killed people who were attempting to commit genocide (Even in Munch, with the Gabbits.) A bit different from killing people for a personal beleif.

Except for when a person believes that someone is committing genocide. Most suicide bombers believe that they are fighting an oppressive aggressor.
