Freaking yourself out?

I will admit, I am easily frightened. Even if someone knocks on the door, I get frightened. And I ended up freaking myself out quite badly a few moments ago.

I was just working on my story and I thought I heard the front door knock quite quietly. I dismissed it as the wind but then I thought I heard the door open, this time I dismissed it as imagination. Then I heard my name being called and I dismissed as being loopy from lack of sleep. But I go to investigate. I'm just about to turn the corner that leads to the stairs when my Stepdad's Dad peers around the corner quite suddenly while saying my name. You should have heard me scream. But I was relieved that it was him.

Have you ever freaked yourself out?

Hobo 01-01-2008 10:28 AM

A leaf once made me jump. True story.

Paramite of War 01-01-2008 10:41 AM

A praying mantis once made me run. True Story.

Carnix 01-01-2008 12:02 PM

I was once attacked by a three headed bear. False story.

Mac Sirloin 01-01-2008 12:02 PM

I can get jumpy in the dark, crotch punchingly jumpy.

metroixer 01-01-2008 12:13 PM

I have a strange phobia of jellyfish. I get quite jumpy around them :/.

Carnix 01-01-2008 12:15 PM

I get an irritating twitch in my eye when it's dark and I'm trying to concentrate on something so unless I'm sleeping I'm naturally forced to avoid "freakish" conditions.

moxco 01-01-2008 01:36 PM

Whenever I have to walk in long grass at night time I'm always scared a snake could be there.

I've had a phobia to those hairy catterpillars since I was 6 when I had an allergic reaction to one.

Strike Witch 01-01-2008 02:00 PM

I'm scared of Aliens. not normal movies and games aliens, those creepy grey ones whut anal probe you and stuff. That really scares me, ever since I saw a UFO ages ago.

We are alike. I'm scared of AleinMagi.

Paramite of War 01-01-2008 02:39 PM

I get scared when it's night time and I watch anything relating to UFO's

skillya_glowi 01-01-2008 04:04 PM

I'm not easily scared, but I am easily grossed out. That's why I dislike horror movies, it's not that they're creepy (well, partly that too) but it's just that I can't stand the blood and the guts and dead people and whatnot.

I have a phobia of insects though. Not even a "eww, a fly *smash* " type of phobia but an actual fear.

I hope he never comes back, you know?

ziggy 01-02-2008 12:24 AM

This topic seems familiar. But anyway, I've always been able to trick myself into hearing sounds that aren't there. Like at night when trying to go to sleep I might hear someone saying my name. I can hear music too. It freaks me out so much but... I'm sure other people do it too? Ya probably.

I'm scared of AleinMagi.

I'm less scared, more irritated but for some reason during the time he spent spamming up my cg art thread I grew to [this part of the text has been removed for the sake of reputation and because I don't really know how to end that statement]

if i get to engrossed in a game like SWAT 4 where the tiniest thing wrong can kill you instantly and i do get it wrong from a gangster machine gunning me when i wasn't looking. I jump out of my skin :tard:

OddjobAbe 01-02-2008 05:31 AM

I have no fear, for I am the reason people are afraid of the dark.

Gabriel Iglesias?

I get freaked out walking through houses/hallways at night with no lights on. Even at my ripe old age I think a monstah is chasing me so I run very quickly to a place of sleep.

skillyaslig 01-02-2008 11:24 PM

I get freaked out in scary movies. the Grudge made me so scared of the dark I keept the lights on when I went to bed.

OddYouko 01-03-2008 01:55 PM

I also freakout when I'm in the hallway so I quickly run to my room. xD
My brother freaked me out just by turning the corner..then again it was dark in the house. ._.; I hate it when I "think" I'm hearing sounds that aren't really there too.

OANST 01-03-2008 02:09 PM

Those sounds are there. Oh, yes. They are certainly there. And they are coming to bite your toes.

Nate 01-03-2008 02:26 PM

I once walked in on my parents having sex.

I win this thread.

Mutual Friend 01-03-2008 03:38 PM

I'm Neurotic-ism incarnate, I'm forever hearing and seeing things that aren't there. A bleating lamb turned up in an otherwise unremarkable musak track the other day. Black bin bags often appear to be seals. Maybe it's my brain's way of keeping me entertained, or to keep me on edge, out of spite.

ElumFan 01-03-2008 06:07 PM

I have, many many times. Especially at school, I become a nervous wreck every day there because I feel I'll flunk out because my grades are a little cruddy. I know I have Cs in some areas, straight As in others. But I'm afraid that my Cs will easily become Ds or
even a miserable F if I don't practice constantly.

Don't be silly. I don't bite people's toes.

This.

And running makes it worse, it puts me more on edge, but I'm fine as soon as I get in my room. I know nothing is there, but I can't help it.
