A Drawing of mine

I drew a scrab last month for my art class that I'm taking. We were learning/ practicing shading and lighting. I drew this for my final for this unit. My teacher gave me a B on it, probably cause he didn't know what the hell it was... but tell me what you think!

It was done freehand as I looked off of the real picture.
Took 7 hours to draw...

metroixer 12-06-2007 04:21 PM

My god it's amazing! I don't think I can ever do a drawing like that!

You deserve way more than a B on that, seriously.

Oddey 12-07-2007 07:30 AM

That is the most awesome thing I've ever seen. But it looks alot like you might have scanned the real version and then printed it out in black and white. I don't think you did though. It would be awesomer if you tried drawing it in a different position. For example: a scrab that's howling.

I assure you I drew it. haha. It took me all night. It might not look like pencil anymore because I touched up the Shadows and Highlights on Photoshop to make it more crisp. and took out the smudge marks around the scrab. It was too big to scan so I took a picture of it. (The actual drawing wasn't changed in anyway on photoshop) Plus, try finding a high resolution picture of that scrab. It can't be found.

Good point about the different position though. But I didn't have enough time to plan that out since it was due the next morning. But I'll keep it in mind if I decide to draw another one for fun.

Thanks for the comment!

I attached two pics of the picture. Sorry Oddey, I'm and artist so when someone has any doubt that I didn't draw something I have to defend it to the death. Nothing personal, lol.

This is pretty damn awesome. We are doing clay work currently. I want to make a model of a glukkon. *smiles and craftily rubs hands together*

OddYouko 12-07-2007 02:25 PM

O__O Oh my God that's awesome! Better then my Scrab! I'd never be able to draw one like that. Great job! I'll possess your teacher and give an A++++++++ xD

Paramite of War 12-31-2007 10:34 AM

Were doing something we should have done a long long time ago.
But really Beastman I hope you realize how wonderfull of an artist you are, I agree with everyone when I say this drawing of yours is incredible. :)
(Make the arm longer and color it in, then do the same for another arm.)

He is a great artist, it's not easy to draw a Scrab as well as he made. I wouldn't ruin his art.

Disgruntled Intern 12-31-2007 11:23 AM

You're dealing with the jerk that drew fancy moustaches on all of the Mona Lisa prints/posters while volunteering at the local art museum.

Yeah, he's talented, but I come from an Urban Art background, yo. Some times I'll throw something up on a wall, and I'll love it, and I'll come back a week later to show a friend, and some other artist has added something to it. Sometimes it's for the sake of comedy, but sometimes it actually makes it better.

It's all about love, kiddo.

abe is now! 01-02-2008 07:30 AM

I did not understand, but... OK!!!

Disgruntled Intern 01-02-2008 08:23 AM

God damn right, you commie sunnofabitch.

Beastman59 01-06-2008 11:06 PM

Thanks for the all the kind comments everyone! I'm planning on drawing another picture soon. The Scrab drawing was me trying to replicate a picture. The one that I'm planning will be my own conception.
I'm thinking of a picture of Abe being chased by 1 or two paramites. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions let me know. I think I'll be coloring this one too.

abe is now! 01-07-2008 09:54 AM

I am waiting your pics, Beastman59 :D!!!

OddYouko 01-10-2008 08:57 AM

Yeah me too! The Scrab is really great!

ElumFan 01-14-2008 05:11 PM

Holy cow! That is an awesome piece of work, dude, your teacher's a jerk for giving you just a friggin' B on this. If I were your teacher, you'd get an A++++++++++++++++++
man!

That's astounding, you should make copies of it on a copy machine and sell the copies for a few dollars. I know people'd buy something this spectacular.

skillyaslig 01-15-2008 03:07 AM

wow, that scrab totally remind me of those buisness men from Tom and Jerry...or maybe thats Itchy and Scratchy? I dunno...
Anyways, whats the difference between an A and B? I know they are different grades, but by how much? Cause that scrab deserved an A ermm...+?
I dunno, we just have E, M, A, and AN....Its a great pic though
