Audio Editor??
Has anyone come across an audio editor, which can replace both music and sounds?, if so then please give me a link :fuzcool:
Thanks, PS (ParamiteSurprise) |
For anything or for AO/AE/MO? If for anything then GoldWave maybe.
|
AO AE
AO and AE, i know the GTA ones, but not the oddworld ones.
|
I don't think there are any AO/AE ones, should be possible to create one though because im fairly sure they're in the psx's native audio format, but for the background music it would be sort of tricky.
The background music is simlar to midi, but everything else is "vag" a sort of wave file. |
Q: I know you probably are going to tell me that you can't legally tell me but I want to know how I can change some of the sounds in Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus specifically the background noise so I can shove some teen music in there (Oddworld has a great soundtrack please don'tbe offended!)
Alf: I would never tell you something like that! What I will tell you is to lose that teeny-bopper crap yer listening to. Land sakes, the things that pass for music these days woulda caused folks in my day to hold their nose just in case a foul smell was short in coming... Get yerself some Grass Roots, or The Platters... you know, they did that one that went "Smoke... Gets... In... Your..... EEEEEEEYYYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSS-HACK ACK *cough cough wheeze*"... eh... whoo... and so forth. Then we'll talk. |
Alf wins again.

Yes indeed
I'm curious, I want to know why you want to change the music? |

:
so why? |
The music and sound effects in this game are already beautiful. I can't understand why someone would want to change them.
|
Variety is the spice of life. Besides, the screeching music in the PC version of AO can get very annoying.

The background musics aren't bad at all. I like it. And PSX sound is better I know. |
Not on all levels, the only ones i really notice are
Munchandee Vaults Mudomo Vaults (Its got terrible music sounds like a trapped fuckin cat!) There are others but they're the ones that stand out most really.. if you dont understand, go on the PS1 version of Abes exoddus, and go on mudomo vaults, listen to the goodness, then go on the PC version, and cover your ears... thats should say it all... if it does not then... IT SOUNDS LIKE SHIT should explain it :| |
:
In that time 1996\1997\1998, the PSX version was the better, if you use a Sound Blaster 16 don't try play any MIDI, or your hears will be bleeding. |
Can someone put a link to the PC AO or AE? I've never heard them before.
|

|
Why bother changing the game? Mute the PC/TV and play your own music.
And sing your own sound effects. |
:
So the pc uses some emulated midi conversion thingy, a better soultion these days would be to make it create a wave from the midi as it plays it and upsample it |
:
:
Oh, more a thing, I will warn you.... Don't play Final Fantasy 7 on the PC! The MIDI is horrible! (same thing to the FF 8 PC ver) |
Hmm I've never seen that before, the window version uses direct sound (you know, part of directX) is there even a dos folder on the cdrom?? I've never seen one?
If some one can find info on the psx vb/vh/vab/vag/seq/sep format it might help with converting the sound fx. |
:
About the PSX sound, I think there is a program on Ngemu (I don' remember the name) open the music and sound fx files. Oh, and Direct Sound is for sound fx, Direct Music is for MIDI only. |
Yeah that folder isnt on my AO CD :S And which program are you talking about? VAB tool?
