Retro Gaming

It was inivetable, people, a thread about all the good games of yesteryear.

Yes, this is fuelled by my sudden return to classic games (Atari 2600, Genesis, SNES, and eventually NES, PS1, and a Wii for everything in between)

Classic gaming huh?

I like me so Donkey Kong Country 2 and Yoshi's Island when I want to tune up my working SNES.

Great games

AO and AE were great.
Pokemon was awesome when I was a kid.
My generation doesn't know too much about the Atarai, Genesis, Sega, etc.
Last console I got was an Xbox, so yeah, my old games are pretty much on PC.

Want something retro? Go play TROGDOR!

How long does it take for a game to become retro?

Leto 11-07-2007 09:26 PM

Heart of Darkness (PS1)
Hocus Pocus (DOS)
Monster Bash (DOS)
Skullmonkeys (PS1)
Another World (DOS)
Unholy War (PS1)
Commander Keen (DOS)
Full Throttle (Old pc, Windoze 98?)

There's so many more that I can't remember but will post later.

Mario Cart64!

I believe that it has to be 2 ( or 3) generations behind the current gen systems. So with the Xbox, Ps2, and Gamecube, which were 6th gen, the SNES, Genesis, etc... were part of the 4th gen.

I remember Commander Keen, that game kicked so much ass.

Isn't the Dreamcast part of the 5th Generation?

Does that mean it's impossible for Computer games to become retro? Anway, as Super Munch said, Heart Of Darkness is awesome.

Tombi is an awesome retro game, side scrolling action FTW!

Well, it did have The sonic games, which had basically been reason enough to sell Segas other systems.

It was simply released too early, when the PS2 came out sales were completely dwarfed.

Jordan 11-09-2007 04:35 AM

So if the DC was released later it'd still be alive?

Mac Sirloin 11-09-2007 06:04 AM

Most likely, yes.

OddjobAbe 11-09-2007 07:06 AM

I cannot believe that 85's Super Mario Bros. hasn't been mentioned yet. That game is the true definition of a video game. If someone was to ask me what a video game was, I'd say 'Super Mario Bros.'

Sonic was good also, but it wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Mario.

I always loved the first Metroid game for the NES. I was (and still am) shit at it, but it was still fun.

I liked the DreamCast. Sonic Adventure was excellent. I still have that for the DreamCast. And Sonic Adventure 2, but that wasn't as good.

Laser 11-10-2007 05:27 AM

the best dreamcast game was power stone 2!
