Names

Err dude how do I change the name??(I won't change it but if I will...):crafty:

Wil 10-27-2007 09:15 AM

Which name is ‘the name’? If you mean your Oddworld Forums username, you cannot change that, and you asked the question in the wrong place.

AlienMagi 10-27-2007 11:55 AM

1.Ok thanx for info.
2.Sorry for asking here.
3.Last think...I remember Nate was once Nate_dog_woof...How did he change??

Slaveless 10-27-2007 01:00 PM

He has that power. Global Moderators and Administors have the ability to change someone's name. Being that Nate is a Global Moderator, he can change his own name.

Wil 10-27-2007 01:47 PM

Oops, I copied Slaveless’s post here forgetting I’d be unable to edit out the irrelevant bits having done so.

Slaveless 10-27-2007 02:04 PM

I guess I will have to edit that out, for sake of relevence...

Wil 10-27-2007 04:56 PM

That, and for the sake of people who might start to question your sanity. :p

Nate 10-27-2007 06:55 PM

Occassionally we will allow someone to change their name. Generally that happens because they just joined and realised that they made a poor choice (possibly because someone else has a similar name). Very rarely we will allow a respected member who has been here for several years to change their name; we prefer not to do this because it confuses people and mucks up the flow of old threads.

Havoc 10-28-2007 02:31 PM

Besides even Nate had to get 'approval' from the big boss so that goes to show you how exclusive this is.

Bullet Magnet 10-28-2007 03:08 PM

There's no way Big Al would have said no to that though.

Alcar 10-28-2007 05:19 PM

I can't remember if he asked or not. I think it was just whether he should capitalise the 'n' or not :p

He pretty much has free reign.

Alcar...

You could just be a total bastard and start a new account with the same sig/avatar ala Esus and whatever his other name was. He were cool.

Feel free to edit this post/ban me at your leisure, chaps.

Nate 10-29-2007 05:41 AM

Not before I ban anyone who tries that stunt, block their IP and burn down their dog's kennel.

I think that was because of some technical reason. I dunno. It was technical. I forget.

Jordan 10-29-2007 03:36 PM

I was advised to ask here if I could have my name changed to just Jordan. What do you guys think?

Havoc 10-29-2007 05:26 PM

I say go for it.

Nate 10-29-2007 07:11 PM

Official Channels would be to send me or Alcar a PM. Then we'll discuss it amongst ourselves and get back to you.

No.

10 Characters.

Alcar 10-29-2007 11:47 PM

He did :p I asked him to post in FS&H, and see what the general reaction was :p

Alcar...

Hobo 10-30-2007 02:09 AM

Let him change it!

Wil 10-30-2007 08:24 AM

I read about Jordan’s proposed name change in EL first, but I think it’s only fair to support it publicly, because I like it.

:

I think it’s a good move. Removing any combination of underscores and Internet/text/skater alternative spelling from a username is an inherently beneficial procedure.

I believe Esus’s second account was Shrink. I miss Esus as a member.

AlienMagi 10-30-2007 01:11 PM

Yes I think Jordan is better...

moxco 10-30-2007 10:39 PM

I've always wanted to change my username....

Nate 10-31-2007 01:19 AM

Errr... no. You haven't been here long enough.

In any case, such requests should be made via PM and future threads about this will be ignored.
