Australian Political Satire show pisses off everyone.
Basically: Steve Irwin(crocodile wrestler) Peter Brock (racecar driver) John Lenin (musician/singer) Jeff Buckley( singer-songwriter and guitarist) Princess Diana (British Monarchy, famously died in motorcar accident) Stan Zemanek (right-wing radiobroadcaster) Don Bradman (famous Cricketer) Kerry Packer (massive media owner, government manipulator and nasty bastard) Belinda Emmett (Australian Actress and wife of TV host Rove McManus) They really take the cake. Thoughts? |
Old news now.
I think the best comment on this I've heard was a letter to the newspaper that pointed out that this song is not actually criticising these people but in fact ripping into the media that canonises people after they die. |
Yeah, I just decided to mention it now.
|
:
You spelled Lennon wrong Ghost. Nice song though. |
I love the Chaser. And I can proudly say I loved them before the Apec stunt that launched them into fame!
Alcar... |
What a pile of crap. And he's got silly hair.
|
How did I know this would be Chaser's even before I clicked the link?
|
Because other than them there is no satire in Australia at the moment?
:
To you, yes. To the sort of people who listen to talkback radio, no. |
:
But I thought it was too inflammatory, especially considering half of the people who had replied to the thread were Australian, and so edited it out. |
Any one that disses The Chasers are idiots. I don't remember this ep. though.
|
It was last weeks.

[QUOTE=Mutual Friend;325944]I did actually put in my previous post: Does anything decent come out of Australia, besides Neighbours? Like, ever? QUOTE]
*gags* |
Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with Ghost here.
And mention the cochlea implant. And Hugh Jackman. |
I withdraw my statement. Hugh Jackman was right good as Wolverine. :p
|
Better in The Fountain.
|
Chutzpah!
No, this is quite correct, he was extraordinary, and that was an extraordinary film. An extraordinary American film. :) |
Like Titanic?
|
I wouldn't describe Titanic as 'extraordinary', but it was very good.
Relevance? |
Common, it was funny, as the chases is, I love that show.
Neighbours? Are you serious? *Throws up* Well there's Summer heights heigh (Used to be right after chases but finnished last week), I suppose Kath and Kim a long time ago, all of the Australians mentioned in the song, and alot more. Actually, australia has contributed alot, it's just drowned by the amount of brittish and american celebrities out there, and so the Australians that emerge are far better than most of the other actors out there, the not outstandenly better than brittish and american celebritties crash and burn outside of australia however. |
:
Titanic was a whirling, churning mire of Fail so terribly bad script-wise that the Director was forced to encode highly developed hypnotic arrays into the elaborate sets that were attuned so highly they only tweaked into the brains of Stay-at-home mums and lovesick singles, creating a psychic backlash of belief in the event so powerful it sent ripples into the timestream that caused a flucuation in the temperature at the exact date the Titanic was crossing the Atlantic, creating a freak Iceberg that hit the ship in the first place. Thus, Titanic was the first historical movie to cause itself. |
I still don't understand its relevance. Unless you were just pointing me to an example of a poor film that was made outside of Australia (they exist? Seriously?) as if that meant anything!
|
:
Neighbours = *HURK* And yeah, the Chasers are awesome, though seeing as I usually avoid watching TV I often end up looking up random episodes on youtube, most of which the poster forget to put the episode number. They're still not as good as Thank God you're here, though :p. |
"Thank God you're here, grandma's been raped!"
Sorry couldn't resist. Actually Thank God you're here isn't realy Australian apparently, it was ripped off an american show, which in turn ripped off a brittish show. Actually nearly all of our shows are either imported from overseas or are ripped off overseas shows. Makes it ironic that america's making an american Kath and Kim. |
...
TGYH is a new Australian show (I won't call it original because adlibbing has been a form of entertaining for thousands of years) that was then sold on to Britain and the US. |
Oh, well my know it all teacher was wrong ...
Goes to show you shouldn't beleave everything you here. Anywayz, I would say piss off everyone, but the toilet Jesus jokes was kind of far, and it got the whole Christian society upset. But hey, it's the Chaser's war on everything, not the Chaser's war on everything except (our sponsers) the deseaced, religeous groups, and basically anyone that will got offended. The show is meant to be offensive, whilst hilarous at the same time. ;) |
The Chaser's War on Everything sucks. It was funny in the first season, but they seemed to have forgotten why they're doing anything in the first place in the second season.
|
Not really. They're still railing on the stupidity of Current Affairs, still making fun of Politicians, still pulling off daring stunts.
That's what they've been doing the whole time. |
But don't you know? The moment something becomes popular, it immediately starts sucking. It's like they only have a certain amount of quality to spread around their viewers so the show was so much better when it appeared at 11:25pm on Friday nights and watched by no-one. But now they're on in prime time so they're crap. Just like Josh Lawson or Missy Higgins or Powderfinger.
Scratch that; Powderfinger really are crap and always have been. |
\m/ Powderfinger is total lame.
