Excuse me for the delay, I was very busy.

Hmm, I don't think you see something like this in the game..
I only know the first picture :)
Look here:
http://oddworldlibrary.net/toe/faq.php#133

"The large figure depicted is not a creature but a statue built by the Mudokons. This Song Engine produces music that welcomes friends and wards off enemies."

I hope this helped :D

AlienMagi 09-22-2007 05:23 AM

well... we can also see Munch, so if you ask me it is form Munch's oddysee

Wil 09-22-2007 07:27 AM

Why have you attached zipped images that are already online? I hope you don’t expect people to download that.

abe is now! 09-22-2007 09:30 AM

Excuse me, I won't do it again.

AlienMagi 09-22-2007 12:46 PM

Wil 09-24-2007 03:29 AM

Epic Epic Fail

skillyaslig 09-24-2007 03:35 PM

well, you pretty much need to click 'download' to 'download' the picture...just a theroy..Hehe, that big musical instrament looks a wee bit like the queen xenomorph. I would love one of them, I would call it Debbie.

abe is now! 09-25-2007 10:49 AM

Yes, but if you know it, where are these images from?

Nate 09-25-2007 02:55 PM

We don't know. They're concept sketches that are yet to be used in a game. The first one is some ancient Mudokon technology. The last one is of the Gabbit Spawning grounds at Ma'Spa. The second one is a Mudokon village, possibly also at Ma'Spa but I can't remember specifically.

skillya_glowi 09-25-2007 06:57 PM

Time to quote the book :D

First picture:
"The 'Song Engine' is an example of ancient Mudokon technology that is meant to harness nature's energy to create spiritual music that, in turn, reinforces and protects the natural spirit world. As the living waters of the river flow through the Song Engine, music plays to welcome friends and ward off enemies. If a threat persists, the giant wooden sentinel can be brought to life with the chimes and drums as its heartbeat. However far the music carries, the sentinel can bring its strength to bear."

Second picture:
"This Mudokon river city, hidden deep within an ancient swamp, is a concept for the way some desperate holdouts may have come to build a piece of Oddworld's bright past." There was no name given; the caption only said "River City."

Third picture:
"These designs depict a monolithic shrine at the river's source called Ma'Spa. In these pools ,the Gabbits would spawn the next generation and continue the cycle of bringing life to the Mongo River." The caption said "'Ma'Spa' by Raymond Swanland." I'm not sure if it was Raymond Swanland that designed it, or if he just created the mentioned picture. On the same page there was another concept painting of Ma'Spa by another production designer, Gautam Babbar. (Personally I prefer Babbar's version :p)

abe is now! 09-26-2007 06:57 AM

Thank you, but I don't know what is a Ma'Spa'.... What is it?

skillya_glowi 09-26-2007 04:42 PM

Ma'Spa is the place in the river (or the monument at its source) where Gabbits go to spawn. I think.

abe is now! 09-27-2007 04:20 AM

So all these places are tied up to Mongo River.. I hope OWI will create a game with these places, I like them!

well, you pretty much need to click 'download' to 'download' the picture...just a theroy..

You mean to save it on the hard disk, or whatever media you're using. Clicking open still downloads it, just to a temporary folder. No "theroy"s here. Just an IQ above 10

Laser 09-29-2007 08:44 AM

we need an I.Q above 10?
damn it!

abe is now! 09-29-2007 09:11 AM

It's easy to download an image from a site.....

mudling 10-04-2007 11:19 PM

Stranger's Wraith, if you are unnaware, sorry if you're not, takes place on the mongo river, however Ma'Spa is not mentioned. The river is clearly long, (probably the Nile or Amazon long) and probably runs through Modos, so it's quit possibel that Ma'Spa is still there, just not visited in the games.
As for the downloading issue, looking at anything downloads, and I don't see it is a big issue, but if it is apply a warning to the thread of whatever, sorry to be a party popper, but there's no real need to argue and little need to discuss the matter.

Ok, but I have not understood nothing about these images. I only know the river is the Mongo River. I think the Ma'Spa is the better hypothesis.

mudling 10-05-2007 04:43 PM

Ok, let me explain, these images may have been purley insperation for munches oddysee, and the adventure they may have had, or they may have been cut, but it was planned for munch to place the eggs in Ma'Spa, by travling up the Mongo River, to breed the gabbits, and restore his speacies. Maybe this will be shown in the future, or maybe it won't.
It's not too neccerary as you can guess that Munch's speacies will be restored anyway.
But I recomend you get the Oddworld art book if you can, as it shows these pictures, and more, and explains them.
They are in the insperation section I believe however.
I hope I could help.

abe is now! 10-06-2007 02:08 AM

Thank you Mudling, you helped me! So these images are the Gabbits "nests". But the first images, where there are Abe and Munch and another Mudokon near a statue... what is it? I didn't understand only that...:fuzconf:

AlienMagi 10-06-2007 02:10 AM

hey look.Alcar's people are on theese pics :D

Bullet Magnet 10-06-2007 06:23 AM

Those images, along with the temple on page 23 in the book, are some of he most beautiful Oddworld art I've ever seen.

abe is now! 10-06-2007 10:03 AM

Yes I agree, but can I find more informations in the book in Google Books? And have you got the artbook?

skillyaslig 10-07-2007 11:43 PM

I think you can buy them in places, I remember see it on the web somewhere. You'll just need to search around a bit, it souldnt be that hard, but who knows...I would love to have one. :D

AlienMagi 10-08-2007 05:28 AM

Oh yeah.... But I love that book not because there are those three images, but because there are a lot of pictures that I won't see without the book...
