Introducing vBulletin Blog
vBulletin Blog was released yesterday after a few months in development, I've decided that it would benefit the forum community by purchasing this wonderful little add-on.
Should you discover any style / theme issues, besides white backgrounds on images, or the 'Blog' text link in the top navbar, please post them here. A Blog Moderation policy will be announced sometime shortly. A little more information can be found here: http://www.oddworldforums.net/blog.php?b=1 Alcar... |
The ‘quick comment’ feature doesn’t work. Fixy fixy.

I think these blogs are an awful idea.
I have currently only read, if my memory serves, TWO, and that was enough to hate them utterly. One was something churned out by the Hobo Computer Program, which I forget, obviously, and the other is Nate telling ME that he's considering that he may possibly try to get his tight mother to stump up for an iPod. If I am interested in such things I'll talk to them in other ways, but give people a personal mouthpiece and they're just gonna gurgle bubbles that show us how wonderful they really are and give a little insight, how there's actually a real person at the end of these piece-o'-crap words. Blogs in of themselves aren't a terrible idea (and nobody forces anybody to read them, right? Right?), but if you add that function to this type of place you're just gonna get the idiot posers flocking to this new privilege. Which is pretty much what has happened. Oh, and Nate just trying to bore us silly now and then. :) It's just the idea of giving people who actually quite like the idea of being able to blog in an already constructed community (urgh) is pointless. Giving a shot of feel good to a bunch of bozos (though not exclusively). Maybe I should research this far better so I can type up some in-depth analysis of my findings. But I don't want to put myself through it, I just don't think I'd be able to cope. I just don't. Okay. But... nobody forces me to read them, right?! Well, obviously. But it is so pointless, because the two scenarios are: a) you get mindless assclownery, or b) actually something worthwhile which is therefore far better served to have a thread made around it. Actually, or c) where it does become a diary for people (can be intelligent or stoopid, it doesn't matter), which shurely is not the function of a forum of this nature? And it has only just occurred to me that maybe I should post a blog about this issue - for it is an issue, friends - but I haven't got the energy for such post-modern high-jinks at this time of the day. Plus I know a little something inside would die, a light would wink out. Fixy fucking fixy! EDIT: Basic grammar. |
That's precisely how I felt when Alcar mentioned (far too excitedly) that vBulletin were introducing blogs. But the way I see it now is that it gives people the opportunity to spam and not start threads about stuff that no-one cares about. Or, as in my case, to write stupid rants.

Or in my casse, to make 6 in a week in a half.
