Oddworld Vista Compatible?
I reasontly upgraded to Windows Vista and for some reason Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus still works! but... the sound dosen't... I know sometimes this can happen with XP but is there a way to fix it for Windows Vista?

Have you tried the compatibility mode? Not sure there is one for Vista. Just remember it's a very old game, designed for win 95/98.

vista + oddworld
hello i have found a solution to play oddworld with vista.
install the game, next go to gamecopyworld.com and write abe exodus in search bar, download the first file "abe exodus fixed exe", next unzip the file exxodus.exe in the file game directory and remplace the old exxodus.exe, next click right in in the icon fast mode go to compatible choose windows 98 and apply, return to compatible and clik to the tick and apply, run the game in fast mode and the play the game ps: sorry for my english i'am french |
ricore, wellcome to the forum.
your solution has been sugested before but it comes with bugs that do not allow you to finish the game. i do wish though that someone will find a viable solution to run it on xp (for those who can't already run it) |
why do people have problems running the game on XP it works fine for me on XP, and always has.. when you press F1 what does the about box say?
|
It's compatible. If it doesn't work, your PC can have problems with the CD. Boh.

This isn't related to a problem listed in this topic, but if it helps anyone, I recently installed Abe's Oddysee onto a laptop that had Vi$ta loaded onto it. At first I activated the backwards compatibilty, which was a mistake because Vi$ta's backwards compatibilty is really crappy - It made AO crash when I tried to use it. So I simply turned it off, and AO ran completely fine afterwards. :)
Cool, huh? :) I finally found a game that runs on Vi$ta without it crashing, slowing down, or simply not working at all. :D - DH |
