Pulled an all nighter.

That is, have not slept at all in the past 24 hours, and am very dis appointed in myself for not being refreshed and creaive, pardon me if I say "Ballsack' too much, its my Failsafe for words I forget from lack of sleep.

LONG LIVE AWAKENESS! I would try that, but I love to sleep too much to give it up. ;)

Nate 07-26-2007 02:00 AM

I did that a year ago when I pulled out an assignment description at 9pm to see that it had been due four hours previously rather than four days later. I didn't work on it that night because I wanted to email the lecturer to see if the date had changed or something. She gave me an extension to 5pm that next day but seeing as that was impossible, I stayed up the entire night to get it done and under her office door before she came in the day after that.

It was a whole lot of ridiculously complicated Electrical Engineering Control Systems stuff - most of which I hadn't even understood until that night. All said, I got it done and only lost a single mark for one slightly wrong answer - my friends who'd spent weeks working on it and got worse grades were jealous as hell.

Very nice, last minute cramming is the best kind.

SeaRex 07-26-2007 03:15 AM

Ah. I remember my first time. ;)

I love that "insomniac's high" that you get. You know, where everything is exponentially more funny than it should be and you feel all "floaty" because you're running off of nothing but caffeine and adrenaline.

Mac Sirloin 07-26-2007 03:39 AM

Yeah, actually thats going to spawn a new thread...

Wil 07-26-2007 03:47 AM

Done that several times. I find it’s never quite as productive as I hope it will be, but there is a great feeling of cheeky triumph as you succeed where others slumber. It’s also great if you’re in halls, because it’s one of the few times you’ll have peace and quiet.

Havoc 07-26-2007 04:01 AM

Pulling all nighters is absolutely great. You get extremely tired at some point but if you manage to push trough it you enter a whoooooole other world. It's like being high without having to take drugs.
After being awake for a good 25 hours I start talking to myself and laughing all the time because apparently I'm hilarious. And then I laugh harder because I realize what I'm doing and things just go haywire.

HOLY CRAP.

I do the EXACT SAME THING.
It spawned my avatar, after all.

Me too!

Of course, the worrying thing for me was that I had to drive to uni and back like that...

Havoc 07-26-2007 05:41 AM

Me and a friend once had the crazy idea to drive from Amsterdam to the Belgium Ardennes at about 10 in the evening. By the time we got there it was 2:30 in the morning and we had no place to sleep. We ended up sleeping in the back of the car in the middle of nowhere, cold and everything. I got a total of 2 hours of sleep if any sleep at all. Next day I had to drive back...

Mac Sirloin 07-26-2007 05:57 AM

Seems like it was a worthwhile trip.

Havoc 07-26-2007 09:43 AM

It wasn't... never ever am I going there again...

Fortesque13 07-26-2007 09:43 AM

noobs, NOOBS, I tell you! Once I shifted day and night I found out how awesome it is to have peace and quiet. Not to mention the fact that I can snag anything from the fridge without the words "leave something for your brother". I remember one time I was up for 37 hours with 3 hours of sleep between, so it's... 34 hours.

Havoc 07-26-2007 11:12 AM

Living at night owns but unfortunatly it's not as fun after a month or so. I had a period in my life where I litteraly got out of bed at 6 PM and went to bed at 9 AM. It was quiet and relaxing and stuff but not a very healthy way of living...

ANN NEELY 07-26-2007 01:28 PM

Coincidentally, I did that for the past few days, in order to get some comic pages finished (I can draw better at night, for some odd reason). Last night I gave myself a much-deserved rest.
I'd like to try shifting my active lifestyle to night and sleep time to day when I'm older, just to try it out.

Alcar 07-26-2007 05:19 PM

Strangely, I pulled one last night. Now I'm at work :(

Alcar...

Zozo the Zrilufet 07-26-2007 05:22 PM

Paramite of War 07-26-2007 05:23 PM

Ive done it quite alot and now am nocturnal and cant stop someone help me :(

Zozo the Zrilufet 07-26-2007 05:26 PM

:)You seem familiar.

Havoc 07-26-2007 05:54 PM

When you start going to bed late it's hard to start going to bed at normal times again. I should know, it's happening to me right now. Damn it 4:00 AM!

mitsur 07-26-2007 07:32 PM

I pull all-nighters all the time, mostly when I'm doing a WoW-related thing that requires an extended amount of time. Other times, it's last-second cramming for a test or project I've put off. Incredibly, I always do better from two hours of studying the night before a test then my friends who have spent days rehearsing the words.

I agree with things becoming much more amusing after being up for more than twelve hours. Especially when the person you're chatting with is drunk, and every other thing he says is 'Go fuck yourself.'

Edit:

Wow, I just noticed fuck dosen't get censored anymore. Fascinating.

4:00 AM? Ahahahaha! I stay up at least 'till 6. But I don't laugh incontrollably until I go over 8 AM. I think that's some kind of my regular "high" border.

Indeed... I blame Kastere for not censoring his cussage

Apparently the collective mass of people who responded.
Troll.

I stayed up all night during Live Earth. Just for fun. I only went crazy when people left me alone. And it wasn't true craziness, it was just distorted boredom. I wanted to try the next night, to try and get hallucinations so I could write some interesting lyrics or music, but the next day was the start of the new semester, so I had to sleep.

I had a damn good sleep after it though!

Jordan 07-27-2007 03:28 AM

I almost had one last night, messing around with Zozo on Oddchat is fun. :)
I stayed up till 6 in the morning at my uncle's once, then went to bed and woke up at 12 in the afternoon.

I only found out about Live Earth the day before. Someone must have forgotten to press the ‘advertise’ button.

Fun don’t enter into it. Temptation to apply blades to body joints do.

Havoc 07-27-2007 05:35 PM

Pulling an all-nighter as we speak. I have all needed stuffs; energy candy, lots of coke and lots of tea with a lot of sugar...

For some reason I have the idea that pulling all nighters is not only bad for my body but also bad for my teeth in particular...

EDIT: I just ate two packages of Dextro Energy candy which... I don't think you're supposed to do...

I did that once when I was in California; some friends wanted to go to a club in LA so we left SLO at about 8pm, got to the club at 11:30, left LA at 2:30 and arrived home after 6am. Top night.
