this goes out to the ailing PS2, PSP, and Wii owners who have to wait until october for a (supposedly) great game to come out.
I am aware of the controversy, but STILL, there is worst stuff than that inj most movies, which can be purchased by 8 yearolds on unrated editions, so where does the ESRB get off?

Manhunt was a lame, over-rated game that got such good reviews because it had the balls to tackle controversial issues even Paris Hilton wouldn't think of doing. I hate this game and everything about it. It's a disgrace to the gaming industry and is one of the main reasons why Jack Thompson has such low expectations of the effect of games on people, thus leading him to keep decent games off the shelves due to claims of the games affecting the minds of gamers.

You are an idiot for enjoying games like this and I wish you a tragic accident that will either paralyze you for life or give you a terminal illness.

Mitsur the entire point of a game is to do things you can't do in real life and thats exactly what Rockstar is playing into with GTA and Manhunt.

Why do you play racing games? Because never in your life will you ever drive a real F1 car.
Why do you RPG's? Because it's a world that doesn't exist and you get to use magic, be famous, stuff like that.

Why do people play manhunt and GTA? Because you can run people over and stab them to death 10.000 times with a blunt object as they are screaming in agony and you can get away with it. Thats the fun of the game, simple as that.

Ofcourse everyone has different taste in games, but believing that games like this affect a gamers mind just because they are violent is crazy.
I'm not thinking about stealing an F1 car just because I just came first in a race on the Xbox 360. I'm not gonna run onto the soccer field during the finals because I think I can make a difference. I'm not gonna dress up like some unknown figure and pretend to do magic and throw myself infront of a bus. Why the hell would I cut someone's throat out with a carkey?! Yes it's a violent game, that's why it has a mature rating and not a PG-13 rating. If people can not see the huge border between a game and reality they are ****ing up in the head anyway and if they hadn't played the game something else would have set them off. Blaming games for real life violence is the biggest excuse someone could have ever come up with.

I agree... partially. As lame as Manhunt is you shouldn't interfere with someone's opinion.
I, myself, think it's pointless to spend hours and hours just massacring people. The point is completely lost when you play such a game and it's a waste of time. As for driving simulations and such you get the feeling of accomplisheness (Unlocking cars and such). Killing games are just there at that exact moment while extracting gruesome violence over a baseball bat through someone's head.
You can't brag around among your friends how many people you would've killed as much as you can brag that you earned all those pesky gold medals in Burnout.
Besides, driving is a thing in real life that's considered enjoyable. Killing, on the other hand, isn't. I don't think there's anyone to enjoy killing couple hundreds people as much as he's gonna enjoy a ride on a tropical island or somewhere in real life.

Not to mention those annoying game over screens (in any game) that make you play over and over and instead of having fun, the game turns into an obligation. You lose more and more nerves playing such a game.

I enjoyed getting killed in Mafia. It would always turn out in a funny way, and you could learn from it not to make the mistake again.

Me and my friends brag about killing thigs, you're just weird Fortesque. Also, I am sure plenty people enjoy killing people in real life, they just know not to. So they can pursue that dream in games.

Not in GTA. Definetely not, especially since I played it online. But Mafia has more lifelike characters to it. It varies from game to game.

And **** Jack Thompson, how dare you even mention him, did you know he filed a lawsuit against rockstar about this game when it was ANNOUNCED?
Then he had the balls to complain to Wendys (fast food chain) about the upcoming violent releases for the Wii? what the hell? why doesn't someone just kill him?
