strange sound issue
Hiya all,
A few days ago, I decided to revisit Abe's Oddysee and Exoddus again (for the PC, by the way). However, since I started Exoddus today, it hasn't played its sound correctly (even though it did, yesterday, so I have no idea how the problem came into this world). For example, chanting and walking sounds aren't played anymore, along with all music (which is a real bugger). Cutscene sound plays like it ought to, though. Oddysee isn't affected, either. Anyone know how to fix this problem? I'm running windows XP (though that's never given me any trouble before), on a Pentium 4 @ 3,06 GHz 512 MB RAM vid card: NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS, 512 MB audio: YAMAHA AC-XG WDM Audio |
1. Either update or install some drivers for your sound card.
2. Or go into your Sound properties and enable some stuff and try again. 3. Try to reinstall AE and it might solve the problem. If all else fails ask on a technical forum. |
1. The drivers are already at their newest version.
2. I couldn't find anything that was disabled that should be enabled. 3. Tried reinstalling, but that didn't work. What technical forums do you know or recommend? |
Try the official Windows forum, that usually has some great people there. Just search it on Google.

I used to have the same problem, when I first installed Exoddus. Do you suffer from repeating sounds as well? Like when you're in a Minecart, or near Gas?
Try re-installing. Worked for me. |
Do you have the original version from the CD? I lost the CD a long while ago, but my friend downloaded the haxed version so I can play it again.
I'm not a criminal if I just lost the CD, right? |
:
@ fortesque: funny you should say that. I do use a downloaded version, because by original CD somehow broke after I left the CD in the comp for e few hours. It couldn't be read anymore, so I downloaded an image and burned that onto a CD, but it has never given me any trouble before. |
You might have missed some sort of file when copying to the CD. Next time, take care of CDs, they'll last longer.
|
no, no, I've been playing from that CD for years now. As a matter of fact, the sound now works again (for some reason), but the CD-reader now seems to burn circles in every disc I insert into it. My computer must've gone completely berserk, cause the scratches it makes are REALLY nasty! What the hell is going on?!:fuzconf:
|
You see, the thing with the haxed version is that sometimes the sounds work and sometimes not. I first thought the sounds are never gonna work then suddenly... MUSIC. And I was like :O !

Have I ever lied!? Oh, I forgot to mention I've been visited by a ghost and it gave a talisman to control all the forums on the internet... |
I bet its shaped like a ballsack.
|
I persume if the drive is burning circles into the disk, replace the drive.
|
I guess Munch's Oddysee isn't the only Oddworld game with sound problems. :P
|
Munch's Oddysee has sound problems?
|
When you play it on Xbox 360 it does.
|
May game is shit too
|
Were your spekers on??
|
Are you using -ddcheat?
Well, what can I say...
Are you using -ddcheat? I used -ddcheat during a chant and the sound of the chant never stoped. I play in XP and I never had a problem, |
I have JUST THE SAME problem with exoddus sounds man...and its not original CD.Its not even cd or disc.. its directly downloaded from internet...someone help please...
|
How about... No. We don't condone or support game piracy, especially when it's disadvantaging OWI.
In any case, often the people who rip games and put them up on the net strip it of FMVs and sounds to reduce the size of the download. |
great news.
I reinstalled the game and didnt use any cheat.I didnt have any problems again...and i didnt create shortcut.:D |
