Your oddworld e-mails
I have a feeling a mod will close this and bash me for spamming but anyway....
I had an Idea that would help us find out more about OWI. It's simple. You post your e-mail to them here and you post their reply. Here's mine. :

Lol, I thought your name actually was Jimmy....:)Jimmy is a funny name.
|
MoxCo, far from close this thread, I fully support it. It’s a perfect solution to the emerging issue of how to share correspondence with Oddworld.
This is some helpful information (digital distribution? Interesting) and supportive words from OWI. |
Nice topic, I hope we get some awsome answers from OWI. :)
|
I sent them an e-mail telling them what I really wanted to say for the past 8 and a half years. I never got a reply, so I gave up on that venture.

Uh, no, I sent it about a month ago.
|
Wow... OWI are really stepping up the chutzpah about minor world leaders...

Not that John Howard, I hate All Saints.
And wow, more Oddworld games? Im excited |
Bad part is it'll be a long time from now when a new game comes out.

Good to see that they are still alive and well and responding, not to mention that Oddworld is not forgotten by them. Hopefully the wait is worth it though.

Ug... I kinda wish I never asked. This destroyed my perception of Sligs. I'm gonna have to do some revising before I continue my fanfic.
~~~~~~~~~~ Q) Do Sligs have beady black eyes or glowing red eyes under their masks? A)They have eyes like that of house flies. They are dark but textured and highly segmented. The red glow around the eyes that you see in their masks is a result of their infrared installed helmet vision. Q) Is Skillya the only Slig queen alive? A)No. There are several and all run different security companies that compete with one another as well as other species that run security service companies. The Slig Queens lease out their children (Sligs) for security services. Q) Were the old Slig queens caring and loving for their children? A) Never. In fact, birthing was so painful for them that they resented their little runts and would actually eat the more unfortunate ones at birth. Q) How does a Slig get by without pants in the wildlife? A) They evolved from swampy conditions and tend to live in mud or very damp places. They can dry out pretty easily, kind of like slugs. Q) Do Sligs share a common ancestor with Paramites? A) No. Q) Is their any chance their will be a Oddworld game staring a kind Slig? A) Possibly. One game about Sligs was presented in the past but publishers thought that Sligs were too ugly to be the heroes of a game. We disagreed, but they choose to pay for the game production or not, so it was never made. Q) By chance are Sligs any good at crafting/engineering? Or are their hands just inept for that kind of business? A) They are crappy manufacturers and horrible at any type of skilled labor. They have no real talents and are lazy and have very short attention spans, which is why they make good oppressors and security guards. They are naturally envious of other species and so they love to feel superior by being sadistic over laborers while working for the wealthier industrialist families. Hope this has been helpful, Matt Lee |
Well, that was certainly an interesting piece of information. But this sort of confuses me. We were under the impression that Sligs were born from one queen and were nurturing in the past. Yet this makes it look like that the Sligs were always the little, angry twerps that they are today. I'm certain revision is going to be applied to The Oddworld Library after seeing this.
And I am certainly certain why women in video games that are heros are very attractive by standards just be seeing that Sligs aren't allowed to be heros in a game. Thank goodness OWI is in charge of their own business now to make their own decisions. |
Wow, fantastic new information! I am loving all of this so much. Cheers for sharing, Venks! I must think of something special to give you by way of thanks.
I asked them some simple questions:
:
|
Who is this Matt Lee. I looked in the back of my art book and it dosn't list him as an inhabitant.
|
I'll have to ask them a few things... about Interns :p *starts typing email*
|
I’ve wondered that too. He knows a lot. Pseudonym? :p Probably he is just a new assistant who keeps having to badger Lorne for info. I doubt he’s the Xbox software design engineer.
|
Wow, its nice to see this new flow of information comming in and that all emails have been getting some gracious responses! I am especially excited that an Oddworld movie was mention but Im sure thats years in the future. It's also interesting to see how Strangers story semi coinsides with Munch and Abe's; seeing as he's the one that managed to reveal Ma'spa due to the destruction of Sekto's dam.
Mullock comes back in the Oddworld movie? :O awesome! this thread is made of gold
Alcar... |
Hey guys, what is the address that you send these emails to?
|
:
It says so in the first post, in the second quote :3 |
:E
woops, musta skipped that part...Thanks Marvak! |
I did a little research on Matt Lee but didn't find much.
He seems to have been involved with Oddworld since it came to xbox, not sure what he actually does though. Apparently he also worked on some Voodoo prince game for Xbox. /shrug |
I suspect that that is a different Matt Lee as he was still working for Microsoft as a software engineer in January, as seen here. Even if OWI had hired him to develop a game, they wouldn't have a specialist like that replying to fan emails.
|
Matt Lee = a lil confuzzling
:
|
But Matt Lee, whether the Xbox software developer or not, has never worked for Oddworld Inhabitants in the past. He is not part of the ‘we’ who modelled, animated, or textured Meeches. He’d have to be using Lorne or an internal Oddworld guidebook in any case.
