Got my copy of the Oddworld Art Book :D

Hehe, posting mine after the initial 'I GOT THE BOOK' post flood a few months ago :D.

I just received my limited edition 'First Ten Years' book in the mail. It has a fancy leather cover and a certificate of authenticity signed by Lorne and Sherry.
I got number 747, after the airplane number, because all the other good numbers were already gone :p.

Havoc 06-03-2007 04:36 AM

Liking it a lot. There's a lot of art and information in there :D

Venks 06-03-2007 05:47 AM

For once in my life I have money, where can I find this book so I can purchase it?

Havoc 06-03-2007 06:56 AM

Amazon? I thought it was never going to be available anywhere else but Ballistic?

RachaelH 06-03-2007 08:54 AM

I ordered mine off Amazon (cheaper for UK peoples :) )

Things change, apparently the whole Balistic catalogue is available there now.
But for limited editions you still have to buy it trough the Balistic site.

Jordan 06-03-2007 09:07 AM

I ordered mine from here: http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/ind...ducts_id=31340
It's for people in the UK who want to pay in pounds.

Wil 06-03-2007 10:38 AM

Funny, you used to be able to pay in pounds on Ballistic’s site. Amazon is the only place of the three mentioned here that still has hardback copies.

Shame, if you still could I'd have got the hardback or Limited Edition version instead.

moxco 06-03-2007 12:04 PM

I went in to the city to buy mine. [Not limeted ediotion].

skillya_glowi 06-03-2007 12:58 PM

Congratulations! :D
You are so lucky you were able to get the Limited Edition...because of my parents I'm stuck with the softcover...:nonono:

As for the source, I got mine off Amazon. If I ordered it from Australia it would take forever to arrive. I got mine in a week after I ordered it though. :D And it is, as of now, one of my most prized possessions.
(Unfortunately TOGG spoiled it for me slightly) :p

Wil 06-03-2007 01:04 PM

Sorry! We only publish what’s already online. :p

Well, congrats. Must be cool to have even an original signature of these guys. :D

Question: Does the leather cover one have more arts in than the other versions?

Havoc 06-03-2007 03:31 PM

I doubt it, all it has extra is the leather cover and the certificate, and maybe a better grade of paper but I dunno that.

Wil 06-03-2007 03:44 PM

Congratulations on your new acquisition, Havoc. TAoOWI is a beautiful and fitting tribute to Oddworld, and it can move me almost to tears reading some of it. Particularly the last sentence of the last paragraph of Cathy Johnson’s closing ‘preface’ on the book’s final page.

There is nothing exclusive about the limited editions but for the cattle hide and certificate.

I’m still waiting for the folio edition. /me sighs.

I don't, if this things finnaly comes out it will ruin me, it's even more expencive then the Limited Edition isn't it?

Bullet Magnet 06-04-2007 02:11 AM

This is news to me. What's the Folio Edition?

Wil 06-04-2007 04:08 AM

The Folio Edition -- you are observant! We are still considering if and how we might do this edition at all. We might do a very few of these -- double size (width, height and thickness), hand tooled heavy leather and boxed binding. If we do these they will be extremely limited (just 1 - 10 probably) and could cost upwards of US$ 1,500.

We are looking at the possibility extending the editions we print to the finest books ever made -- large folio sizes, highly decorated bindings, gilding, hardware and boxing. However it is extremely expensive to make books like this -- especially in very small quantities. At this stage we are still investigating how we might make these editions.

I would be happy to hear your comments on collectors editions and the market for them.

Regards

Mark

Mine arrived today woo!

Zerox 06-04-2007 08:17 AM

I bought the paperback because it's mainly the content rather than cover you're looking for, it was cheaper too (it was already about £30-£40 odd anyway, which is quite alot as it is, seldom a hardback or limitied edition).

I doubt I'd ever bother with the folio edition unless I had some ridiculous money and was a millionaire or something, which I highly doubt could happen.

Slig 7665 06-04-2007 08:31 AM

Your all lucky I want that book but I don't have the money but that book is my next target so I'm just going to keep saving.

moxco 06-04-2007 11:58 AM

I couldn't be bothered ferreting around with the exchange rate. So I bought my paperback from a book store for $52.95AD.

Arxryl 06-04-2007 12:01 PM

Congrats Havoc! I'm glad you are enjoyin' it!
