Run 'n' roll??

Hi,

This seems really annoying, but why can't i roll immediately after i run? Every time i need to crouch down then start rolling, which either looses time and/or kills me. I can't use a joypad as it doesnt work, but i use my joy stick. I can't get past this bit unless i can run and roll.

help appriciated

You’re using a joystick? Don’t expect many of us to how to run into a roll using one of those. Most people here just use the keyboard, with which we simply need to press and hold the X key (the fart key in AE) while running.

Or Enter. I personally have used Enter all my life. Dunno why.

Thanks both of you, i'm getting used to the PC version now.

Not far from Feeco atm

The PC controls are much easier than the PS version.

No, it's bloody hard! Look:

The first pic is a crumby pic of my PC joypad that i managed to get working. Imagine that as a PS controller

The second pic is the configuration settings. In the first pic, it says the numbers of the buttons, such as x=3; which were said by the calibration wizard. So, if anyone can be such a great person is to tell me what numbers can go into the cfg file so the assignments are the same as PS AE??

Thanks, whoever can help crack this can have a knockwurst sausage.

PS: Oh, about the roll, whilst running i want to press x and abe should roll. Fart can be x too, please

Really appriciated the help

You can't state opinion as fact. I personally find the PS controls much easier, I have the first two games for PS.

I had a problem rolling after running back in the day, the trick is while your running to press the crouch/stand button while simultaneously letting go of the run button. After a few tries you get the hang of it.

Ok, but i'm finding it difficult to use both the joystick ans the keyboard. With the pics above, can anybody re-assign my controller so it can be like the PS controls?

skillya_glowi 05-27-2007 09:39 AM

They're both equally easy I'd say, it only matters which one you know the most. Take me for example: All the 8 and something years I had AO, I've used the keyboard, I never had a PS or an Xbox. As a result my fingers are used to the keyboard layout and automatically do whatever I want them to do. I never have to think : "Okay, there's a Slig chasing after me, I gotta run. Okay, which buttons do I push for running?"
Cause if you think that way, you're pretty much beat. You just gotta think: "I have to run." Your fingers do the rest. It doesn't matter which controller you're using.

Gabiar: Sorry, can't help you. (damn timing. If I'd posted earlier my post would seem more relevant, as we were discussing which one's easier)

Doesnt matter, cracked it. The configure button in the options looked like this: (

It was a C, so i cracked it.

I never had a problem with the PS controls. I have a very fluid and precise control over Abe with them, it's like riding a bicycle.

skillya_glowi 06-18-2007 11:53 AM

O.o
I tried using the PS controller to play AO once, at a friend's house. I had trouble figuring out where to put my fingers, not to mention actually play the game.
But then again, it's a matter of practice.

Well on the pc I run the press X key to roll :\
