My photos

As I have a thread for drawings, I might as well make one for photos. This is my photo thread.

I will starts with one that I took with my Step-Grandad's camera sometime in November. This was back when I didn't have a camera.

This was of a robin that stayed still and let me take a picture. It didn't move a centimetre. After I took the photo, it flew away.

I like this one.

Matriar 05-23-2007 03:51 AM

Neat! :)

Hehe, these birds are pretty funny sometimes. It's as if they know that they got photographed.

Jordan 05-23-2007 05:14 AM

Yay, photos! :) We never get any Robins around here, only those common birds, who poop all over the place. Cute picture anyway, you're very lucky to have caught it in time! ;)

"Vörösbegy"? Sounds like an old, sick bird...

Abraham Lure 05-24-2007 08:06 AM

Strange's Maid- I think this one was posing and flew away for a bit of a break from people. Thank you though.

Jordan- I was lucky too. It was watching me when I got the camera out. But it stayed still and waited until I actually took the photo. Thanks again.

Dripik_12- What a cool name for the Robin. Anyway, thanks.

This is one of my favourite photos. It's of a duck. A Drake in fact. I think it was used to people and that's how I managed to get so close to it. I'll post a link as it's file type exceeds this forum's filesize limit.

P.S Not all of my photos are of birds.

Jordan 05-24-2007 08:13 AM

From that position the duck seems like it has no eyes.
It's cute all the same, great photo, ducks make me laugh. :D

Matriar 05-24-2007 01:34 PM

I like these ducks for some reason. Nice photo, really. :)

Abraham Lure 05-25-2007 07:39 AM

Jordan- If you look closely, you an tlel that it has eyes XP. Thanks though. Ducks also make me laugh...especially when they're being mentioned in the Llama Song.

Stranger's Maid- I like those ducks too. Thank you.

This is a nice photo I took sometime in April while walking through part of St Mawes. I like it a little. It's not one of my best though.

dripik_12 05-25-2007 10:33 AM

Nice photos, Ray!:) Love the duck!:D

I still can't notice it.

Ooh, that picture is so purty! You do go to some nice places. :)

Maybe the reason why I love ducks is that they often try to kill each other when I throw a small piece of bread in the water where they swim.

Don't take it too personally. I just thought it sounds funny because of the many ös. :)

it's okay...I also think that it sounds funny....hungarians give strange names for birds...like the pigeon in hungarian is "galamb"...the eagle is "sas"...and the falcon is "sólyom"...

Dripik_12- Thank you.

Jordan- Cornwall is a lovely place with loads of lovely places where it is. Thank you again.

Stranger's Maid- Thank you.

This is not a landscape, waterscape or sky photo. But it's a photo of my pet cat. She was sleeping on my computer desk this morning.

Jordan 05-27-2007 09:21 AM

Is that Wilma? Woo! :D She looks so peaceful sitting there, makes me want to sleep... :D

Abraham Lure 05-29-2007 10:00 AM

Jordan- She has that strange power. Sleep inducing power of a kitteh. I must avoid it. Thank you.

New photo. I took this one sometime in March when I felt ill. I liked the pretty sunand how it was rising. So I snapped a pic.

Those colours are bright! How did you take this without hurting your eyes? You saint! Nice pic, I want more!

Abraham Lure 06-15-2007 03:02 PM

Jordan- I'm not a saint. I just looked away, kept the camera still etc. It was like a lucky dip, take the picture and look at the result. Thank you.

This is one of my favourite ever photos. I think I was quite lucky to get such a nice photo. But I took this while walking along the sea front in Falmouth (Home Town). I love this one. And I hope you feel the same.

Abraham Lure 07-06-2007 06:14 AM

Sorry for the double post but I have a new photo. It looks rather nice in my opinion.

I think this would look like something on a postcard in my opinion.

Stranger's Maid- Thank you very much.

One of my good photos. I hope you like it. It's pretty good in my opinion. I had to be very careful to get that one.

moxco 07-22-2007 01:30 PM

WOW

Where the hell is that? The creek and the plants are beutiful.

Abraham Lure 11-19-2007 01:45 PM

I am terribly sorry for reviving this topic after so long. But I have some great new photos. After a long hiatus.

MoxCo. Executive - Trebah Gardens. That is where I got the photo.

This photo was one I got a couple of nights ago of my stupid cat, Wilma. She is a lovely cat really. And you also get to see part of my cool blanket. And my Dylan plush gets a cameo in this photo.

lol, nice aye :D at least some people have some photo talent (gasp, stop looking at me!)

Abraham Lure 07-29-2008 02:10 PM

Skillyaslig - Thanks for the nice comment on my photos. I appreciate it ^_^

Well, as I'm back, I'd thought I'd post my photos again. How fun. I've got a new camera since leaving so some of my photos should be better quality.

This is just a picture of a duck I took. I liked it.

OddYouko 07-29-2008 05:54 PM

Nice pictures!
The duck looks very pretty!

Leto 07-30-2008 12:57 AM

You definately do show some promise, and don't take this the wrong way, but would you like some constructive criticism? I'm a pretty seasoned photographer, and I'm sure with a little advice you could take far more amazing shots compositionally

Agreed.

There's a thing called the rule of thirds. It's where you imagine the image in a 3x3 grid and you plan out where you want what. Things such as distance and size have to looked at carefully to have good composition. What you don't want is to have the focus in the center of the grid. Having most of the action a little bit above or to the side of the center is alright. That pic of the garden was wonderful. Little details like the close-up of the bushes on the sides and then the water leading out to a small bridge gave it great composition, but for others like that one of the duck and cat, the main focus was right in the center and made the image a whole lot less exciting.

Just something I learned once. :)

I'll keep coming back to look at your stuff.
