Oddworld sprites

Hello evertbody,
I'm sorry for my bad english, but I'm an ignorant italian (I'm writing near a vocabulary).
My problem is: I want to have oddworld's sprites (abe's sprites, slig's sprites). Where I can get it?
Please, if anyone have got it, send me.
Thanks

I think someone ripped some sprites, so if you have a search for some threads, you might find some. But don't post in them.

I have tried in all the web, but I have not found any sprites ripped from oddworld.

In this forum, there is someone good to rip resources?

Use the search button. (Below the oddworld forums picture)

I don't think there are any ripped sprites on this forum, but Arxryl made some pretty damn good custom ones.

yes , But I have need of the ripped sprite ones from Oddworld Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus.

And if I asked them the 'oddworld inhabitants'? XD

OWI probably wouldn't be able to give you them, they're probably not in image format, probably some game making format. But yeah, use the search button below the OWF logo, it's the 6th button, you can't miss it! ;)

By itself, ripping the 'sprites'/graphics of the Oddworld games would be hard, since the Oddworld Inhabitants must have used models in the game or have manually ripped the model frames by hand and used as sprites in the game. And since it seems that the game uses AA, it would be very hard to clean up the sprites to be as close as possible to the original ones.

what is AA ?_?

Anti-alias, a super-common technique used to smoothen out objects against another.

Take 3d games for example, you'll see that it's edges don't seem pixelated, yet, they seem 'smooth'.

Normally in your graphics card driver settings.

GreatMac, please don't double post. Double posting is considered as spam which is not allowed.

ON TOPIC:
I have been searching trough the forums but I haven't seen any sprite rips yet. I have seen however; music rips. Although I assume your not interested in them.

Chubfish 05-14-2007 12:29 PM

Well, when I want to get some sprites, I usually get screenshots of what sprites I want and go around them with eraser in paint to get rid of the background around them and the such, and then save it in paint with a black background. They look pretty much ok...not the best of quality but good none the less.

We really want the movement sequences from the manuals, really. I did find some recently while not looknig for them, but they were undersized...not too bad though:

They're near the bottom. Maybe you could ask the guy where he originally found them somehow?

Chubfish 05-14-2007 02:21 PM

I've been on that website but I never noticed that part. Wow, thats alot of abe sprites. There awesome, if only they were slightly bigger that would be wonderful.

mmm, good idea ^^
it's a sin who that sprites are so little; I have need of the characters with theirs largeness.

PS: sorry for double post, but I'm DISPERATE

GreatMaC 05-16-2007 01:12 PM

I know that I can't do double post, but more nobody doesn't answer me!
I've need of those sprites. Is it possible who there aren't oddworld sprites?
It's amazing!

People have discussed this before. No-one has managed to get them.

If you'd like to try and rip them by printscreening multiple times and cropping them, I'm sure many people would be grateful to you.

I've tried, but it's VERY difficult, because the characters "are melted" with background.
Homewer, maybe I will try.

Nate 05-17-2007 05:19 AM

Well that's precisely my point; if it's so difficult for you, it's equally difficult for the rest of us. And seeing as no-one's had the patience to work it out yet and OWI aren't likely to ever release the sprites soon, you can't expect them to be available.

They came from the glorious AE manual. If you have that and scan it at an ultra-unbeleivably-high resolution you might come up with something blurry but acceptable.
