Your Firstborn Child

We've discussed this before but I think that three years is a long enough gap.

Everyone has a name that they absolutely love that they will name their firstborn child. This is the place to discuss.

Personally I've only come up with boy's names so far.

1. Zach(ary)
2. Rafael/Rafi
3. Ethan/Eitan (Ei pronounced to rhyme with ray)
4. Most names that start with a 'J' for some reason. eg Jordan, Josh, Jeremy
5. Random, after a character in an Isobelle Carmody short story (not the Marvel character)

So go on, what's your choice...

Alcar 05-03-2007 08:43 AM

Boys: James or Loucas

Girls: Kayla or Clíodhna

Spelt exactly as they appear :)

I recommend you go with that one. It's the best name in the universe. :)

I haven't thought about having children. But if I ever do, I'll be extremely careful what I call them. I'd hate them to be bullied for their name.

Abraham Lure 05-03-2007 09:31 AM

I don't really think about having children. But if I did have a child. I have quite a few names though in case I do have children. I just have the problem of choosing one from the list.

Boys: Zeke, Zach, Dan, Oscar, Roy, James, William (After my Grandad), Ray, Jack, Adrian, Paul, Nathan, Troy, Alan, Trevor, Neville, Dorian, Martin, Stanley, Kyle, Miles, Jordan, John/Jonathon, Joe, Errol, Micheal, Geoffrey, Kevin, Mark, Alex, Ashley, Kai, Cameron, Connor, Robert, Luke, Henry, Tom, Max, Robin, Spencer, Maurice, Alfie, Gary and Dylan.

Girls: Rachel (Rachel Jr in my case), Ruby, Lola, Wilma, Betty, May, Mary, Maria, Marsha, Martha, Joan, Joanna, Annie, Charlotte, Sarah, Sharon, Jane, Jenny, Catherine, Kathleen, Lucinda, Hannah, Jade, Ashley, Jules, Maureen, Carol, Caroline, Charlie, Zara, Zena, Lucy, Olivia.

That's all the names I can think of to name my first born.

OANST 05-03-2007 09:33 AM

I didn't get to choose the name for my first born but I did with the second. I chose Abbey. If I ever have a boy I'm thinking of Brock as a possible name.

Bullet Magnet 05-03-2007 09:34 AM

If it's a girl: Gliese 581c. If it's a boy: Carol.

Hobo 05-03-2007 10:07 AM

I think we all know that Hitler is the only name i'd use. Male OR female.

Wil 05-03-2007 10:18 AM

I think, once upon a time, I came up with a name I would like to call a child of mine, but these were before the days I realized I didn’t want children.

snuzi 05-03-2007 10:47 AM

I haven't a clue what I'd like to name my child. Although, I do know that I'd want the name to be different, just like mine is.

If I have a girl: Samantha, Sara, Chelsea, Willa, Maya

skillya_glowi 05-03-2007 04:59 PM

Girl: Cora, Marilyn, Antoinette, and...Grietje. I'm weird.
Boy: Peter, Lorne (what, it's a pretty name :p), Robin or Robert

@ Watermelody : you want to name your child Ale?
Not that I have anything against ale, but...

Nate 05-03-2007 05:26 PM

Just realised that I forgot Gabriel for a boy, which would be quite high on the list.

You think I want kids? This is just a hypothetical discussion.

If only more priests were like that...

Oh, and wouldn't Yidral be a boy's name?

Patrick Vykkers 05-03-2007 07:13 PM

I knew that was inevitable.

Daxter King 05-03-2007 07:18 PM

If it was a girl I'd name her Jesse,Sarah, or Brooke.
For a boy; Marcus,Kyle,or Steven.

mitsur 05-03-2007 08:43 PM

Male: Zack, Brett, Andrew, Pete, Shaun, Luke

Female: Jennifer, Samantha, Susan

Or I could just wait until they get old enough to pick their own name. Until then, I'll call them 'Daughter #1' or 'Son #1'

Should make an interesting first few years.

SeaRex 05-03-2007 09:57 PM

If it's a boy: Crushitron, hideous floating robo-squid monster from beyond the moon.

And, of course, if it's a girl: Crushitron, hideous floating robo-squid monster from beyond the moon.

...

I haven't told Ambi yet. I'm sure she'll be cool with it.

Patrick Vykkers 05-03-2007 10:01 PM

I keep forgetting you are a man. Damn it.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, Luke!

....

And for defying the human reproduction system.

First off, I absolutely never want to have kids. But should it ever happen that a one night stand returns to me after 9 months and dumps a kid with me I guess I could either launch it into orbit or name it.

Boy: Jack, Richard, Mike, Harmon (All these names are English and won't sound right in Dutch... hmm ah well.)
Girl: Jeniffer, Sarah, Melany

moxco 05-04-2007 01:22 AM

Male: Jeremy or Luke.
Female: Cathrine or Samantha.

skillyaslig 05-04-2007 01:54 AM

I like the old names...
Boys:Duncan, Luke
Girl: Aneska, Esmerelda, Elliana.

I am not familiar with the Apostles Gene, Benjamin, Chuck are they from the REALLY NEW TESTAMENT ?

Just because you join the Priesthood does not mean you can`t Have kids,
you just can`t talk about it.
Most likely they will already have names anyway.

By the way where did Quido come from ?

Laser 05-04-2007 09:23 AM

hmm for me it'll be:
A boy would be:Micheal cos my favorite band singe Micheal stipe in R.E.M. and my Dad:)
If its a girl:i'll leave it to my wife/girlfriend

Bullet Magnet 05-04-2007 10:50 AM

Actually, I think I'll go with "Marcus Senior" just to through the whole Junior thing out of kilter.

Nope. By "the apostolic names", I was using a short form of "Peter,John,Matthew,Mark,Luke, etc."

Even if I wasn't joining the priesthood, I still wouldn't have kids, as I hate kids.

Quido is a variation on Guido.

Arxryl 05-04-2007 02:17 PM

Well, this is interesting! I haven't really thought about it...

boy: Malachai, Abraham, Larry (after my grandfather...) or maybe Arxryl even... I'm not sure yet.

Girl: Adrianna, Sapphire, Alicia, and...um... yeah, I'm not good with names. But I know that I don't want my child to have a very common name... that'd always suck for them.

I'll add more later maybe...

Mutual Friend 05-13-2007 11:28 AM

Boy: Alexis or Blake, a name I really love and it also dovetales beautifully with William Blake, whom I love, so I'll be able to say he was named after him and I'll look sofistikated with the arty crowd.

Girl: Kate or Elizabeth. Both a bit bland as I don't intend of ever having a girl.

Bullet Magnet 05-13-2007 03:20 PM

Isn't Alexis a girl's name?
