Imus' Suspension
http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/04/09/imus/index.html
Does anyone else think that his comments were taken too seriously? I mean, the guy runs a comedy show for Christ's sake. He's been making fun of people for years now, and now they decide that he's going too far? Personally, I think the whole situation is being blown way out of proportion, most likely because his comments were directed towards African Americans. They're making this look as bad as the whole Michael Richards bit, when it's nowhere near as bad. |
Try giving a precis of what that's about and providing a link to the article for anyone who cares enough. Because few people are going to read through all of that.
You nappy-headed ho. |
Well, basically what's going on is Imus made a comment about the Rutger's basketball team that wasn't recieved very well. The comment offended many people, and he decided to apologize the next day for what he said. He also appeared on Al Sharpton's show to apologize, although all his efforts failed, and he will be suspended for two weeks.

Hear the infraction, and see the aftermath with Da Rev Al Sharpton. I love the way Imus sez "nappy-headed ho" Is it just me , or does Imus always sound like he`s half in the bag? |
Ugh, do I hate Reverand Al. He clings on to every little unpleasant event that befalls the black community, but when something happens to another race, he's nowhere to be seen.
|
Seriously, you're now not allowed to even jokingly make fun of someone who is apparently black, and you get suspended even when you say sorry shortly afterwards? WTF is wrong with your country?
|
I think the point was that he was making fun of someone who was black because they were black. Apparently 'nappy-headed' is a derogatory reference to African hair/hairstyles.
|
True, but then why didn't the Jewish community make a fuss when he called Howard Kurtz a "boner-nosed, beanie-wearing Jew boy"? Seems to me like that's making fun of him because he's Jewish, no?
What's more, if a black radio host were to make the same comment about the basketball team, I bet you wouldn't hear a thing on the news about it. |
Well obviously not. Black people are allowed to make fun of themselves.
|
If a black celebrity had called a bunch of white basketball players "a bunch of cracka-ass bitches," no one would have given a shit.
... Heh. Listen to me. A bunch of white basketball players. I'm so funny. Ah, but such is the United States of America: where black people have no rights except complete and utter freedom of speech and total exemption from criticism. Too bad no other races have that. Also, too bad that black people have to fight so hard to get a proper education (or hell, just to get along in life), but such is America. |

On topic: Today Opie & Anthony came out in support of the Craggy Old Asshole but, added that they would like to have his time spot if he dose get canned. It`s a dog eat dog shock jock world out there. |
Yes, I actually got to listen to the show before I left for school today. They were telling their fans to call Imus and donate some money to his charity. That's another thing. Those bastards and MSNBC took Imus off the air on the day of his fund raiser. Can you believe that? He was raising money for sick children, as he always does, and they had the gall to not allow him on the air to get more donations. Those selfish gits.
Oh, and for the record, O & A are far from being shock jocks, especially in today's world ;). |
He was fired just the other day.
America is so lame sometimes. The worst part is, the same people who were calling for THE BLOOD OF IMUS probably won't continue their crusade to the hundreds of other radio hosts out there that are worse than Imus. It just... burns my biscuits. |
Goddamn it.
And you're right. You just watch, in a week, there won't even be a mention of this whole incident. Although, on the offchance that they do go after the other radio shows, they sure as hell better not go after O & A, or they'll be in a world of trouble. EDIT: One more thing. Is anyone else pissed at the fact that Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson are so quick to go after Imus' job, when they themselves accused those Duke Lacrosse players of rape, and never apologized to them? |
