WTH IS THIS!???

WHAT IS IT???

It's an Elum trap. They replaced bees in the production of the game. But they took it out. I'm not sure what the purpose is though.

Yeh... what would it have done?

snuzi 03-21-2007 02:37 PM

Well, let's see if we can somehow uncover it's purpose. Let's see, it's an "Elum Trap". Could it have possibly been used to trap elums? Nah, no way. Let's blatantly ignore that obvious answer.

All sarcasm aside, it probably would have done what the bees do when elum starts eating their honey: make him stop and become obediant once again.

Zerox 03-22-2007 12:44 AM

The interesting thing here is how would we have deactivated it? Pull a lever or something? That isn't as interesting as getting a rock or something to take back to throw at the bee's hive.

Jordan 03-22-2007 12:47 AM

You'd probably have to throw a rock at the trap to deactivate it. But it still wouldn't be as fun as being chased by bees.

Yea

I was wondering about it too cuz i didnt see it in AO, i think this isn't beta AO, i just think its a fake screenshot. How do I get ranks btw?(Like zappfly and oddworld inhabitant)

Xavier 03-22-2007 06:29 AM

It isn't truely a fake, since it was released by OWI
as for the ranks: http://www.oddworldforums.net/showthread.php?t=15008

Okay then

I didn't know about OWI releasin it, thx for the link!

Maybe its like a tractor beam or somethin, like it would prevent Elum from moving and like lock his limbs in place

Reiji Neko Mitsukai 04-01-2007 09:55 PM

Maybe it emits a high-frequncy tone that blocks out all other sounds and causes the Elum great pain? Just a thought...

snuzi 04-01-2007 10:24 PM

If that was the case, wouldn't Elum just run away to escape it?

Reiji Neko Mitsukai 04-01-2007 10:46 PM

Hmm... Good point. Maybe it emits some kind of radiation that disrupts the impulse transfer between neurons in the motor control cortex?

It would be a lot easier if we knew what kind of reaction Elum has to the trap. Is he frozen or does he howl? All we have is an image of him standing there.

snuzi 04-01-2007 10:54 PM

I'd say he has the same reaction as he would have to the bees: he stops eating the honey, and becomes obediant once more. I can't see another use for the trap outside of that.

Reiji Neko Mitsukai 04-01-2007 11:08 PM

But I wonder if it causes him pain or if it just renders him immobile.

snuzi 04-01-2007 11:11 PM

It probably just renders him immobile. There'd probably be a screen of him howling if it caused him pain.

skillyaslig 04-02-2007 02:08 AM

It could temporary 'freeze' me or shower him in sleep dust or something

Director Phleg_47 04-19-2007 12:54 PM

Too be honest I think using the bees makes a lot more sense and is a lot more simple

snuzi 04-19-2007 02:41 PM

Well, that's most likely why they used 'em :p.
