Close the Jaws Of Oblivion!
Heh, I decided a make a thread about TES 4: Oblivion. I've been playing that, and I wanted to know who ELSE plays it, and their main account. lol
I.E., here's mine: Name: Luigi (heh) Race: Breton Level: 25 Time Played: 86 hours (optional) Largest Bounty: 250,000 (optional) Dishcush naw! |
Well, my main character changes a lot. I've already beaten the main quest, so I like to go through as different characters. I've had a Breton as my starting character, a nord, an Argonian, and a finally a Dunmer (dark elf.)
Currently my guy is: Name: Arxryl Race: Dark Elf Level: 8 (although he kicks arse with a long sword) Time Played; Don't know. Largest Bounty: about 2,500. I haven't been able to find it in a while, so some of the info may be a bit inacurate. But...meh. :) |
I used to play Oblivion. I still would if I had money to buy add-ons and such... and maybe if I didn't have so much schoolwork to do.
Name: Alex (my name) Race: Dunmer Level: Thirty - something. Time played: Approximately 80 hours. Largest Bounty: I have no idea. My brother got the bounties. I think he had a $75 000 bounty. I don't play it much anymore though, as I said. I just watch my brother send dogs flying with powerful shock staffs. I think he made one go over the Chorrol wall. |
My brother used to play Oblivion until his console no longer recognised the game disc for some unknown reason. One of his characters was a Bosmer/Wood Elf and the other was a Breton. I loved watching him play. I also played a bit myself (mainly to talk to people). I absolutely love the Khajiits and Bretons. My brother also made me a character which was a Dunmer/Dark Elf.
The questline that I got to know and love was the Dark Brotherhood. I like it so much that I'm even writing a parody story of the questline. Anyway, I got to love two characters, Lucien Lachance and Vicente Valtieri. Vicente because he is really educated and because he's got a cool voice. Same with Lucien, except Lucien is cooler than Vicente. I might have to get my brother a new copy. Just to watch him play again (I prefer watching). |
Really? I prefer playing, I fall asleep while watching a game other than survival horror games. And could you inlighten me about who Vicente is again? His name sounds SO familiar!
|
he's a vampire in the dark brotherhood. Doesn't he allow you to turn into a vampire later on in the quest or something?
|
Downloaded some of the plugins recently at a friends house, and they dont ****ing work unless I'm on live (which is never at my place). Wtf, made me angrus.
Started a new game, played for about 15 hours and am around level 14. Man Oblivion gates **** me off. |
My brother had a hell of a time with 'em too. A glitch occured and he couldn't close any of them...
|
Welll, they're pretty easy with a lot of chameleon potions :P.
|
Not so much that. He couldn't physically close them! when he pulled out the sigil stone, nothing happened. The room went white, but then it returned to normal, with all kinds of Deadra still attacking him....
|
Ah the Dark Brotherhood. I hate em. When I joined, one of them attacked me -- for no reason, I'm not wanted, I didn't do ANYTHING! He just attacked me, I attackd back and got kicked out. And plugins? You mean like, "Knights of the Nine"?
|
Well... sort of. Nights of the Nine I think is going to come out as an actuall update disk or something, but yes. Little additions to the realm- of Oblivion. Duh-nuh-nuh!
|
Knights of the Nine is already out on XBL and CDROM for pc.
I don't have a hard time with oblivion gates, but they get very monotonous and tedious because you have to close one for each city. |
There are plenty more than that.
|
I meant that is the minumum for the mainquest.
I thought I wouldn't have to explain my every god damn sentence to fellow Elder Scrolls fans. :P Well that's the difference between Morrowind and Oblivion players. |
Uh...
you mean the ones to get the town aid? I just went straight to the fight...not too hard at all. |
Whenever I play Oblivion, I just get Morrowind nostalgia, which really sucks cuz my Xbox is broken and Microsoft doesn't want to make one of the Xbox's best-selling games backwards compatible. Guh. It makes me wrathphul. Anyways, Oblivion may have fixed stuff in terms of gameplay, but it totally got rid of any and all atmosphere that made Morrowind so amazing. I hate to say it, because I totally advocated these things before the game was released, but the quest compass and fast travel really got rid of a lot of the awesomeness of Eldah Scrollz. Plus the voice acting was shitty and it made all the characers a lot less cool.
And yeah, Oblivion gates ****ing suck. Honestly, I just put the difficulty on easy so I can get through them that much faster. P.S. Argonians and Khajiits shouldn't wear boots. Goodbye uniqueness of the beast races. |

Then buy it on the PC? It's cheap! |
I actually originally got it on the PC. My computer hates me, and as such, I can't play any games with a higher graphical capacity than Final Fantasy 7.

I do agree with you though, on Morrowind having a so much cooler atmosphere and environment. Exploring Morrowind was so much more fun than exploring Cyrodil. Morrowind could be a truly excellent game if they fixed up the frustrating combat system. I couldn't get past the 3rd story quest because my sword wasn't hitting anything. I still think Oblivion is fun, but the exploration aspect has just completely gone from it. And even though fast travel is an easier way and convenient for most people (including myself), there should be a way to turn it off just for exploration purposes. |
Well, when I'm just going through the game for fun, I usually just not use the quick-travel feature.
The game is a lot better when you just walk around, but yes. Like AE and AO, it lacked a certain feel to it. Still wish I could find the damn game though... why is my room so messy!? :fuzmad: |
It was a good game :)
Name: Mantra
Race: Dark Elf Level: 15 Time Played: 67 hours(optional) Largest Bounty: 0 (optional) |
:
And @the fast travel and compass issue: yes, ruins the atmosphere of the world being big, and just walking around to look for new things. And fast travel, since I've been replaying it recently (nothing else to do and origional Xbox's laserdisc is screwed in the solaranus) and walking everywhere is a much more rewarding experience (but for the Dark Brotherhood, ****ing tedious). If Xbox360 had compatabilty for Morrowind, Stranger, Deus Ex II and Worms 3D I would die a happy chica. Oh I want to play Stranger now. **** yall OWF. :
|
Yeah, the battle isn't too hard, theres two little gates, which spew Deadra, but only three at a time, and the Blades and Bruma soldiers can hold them off. Just kill any heading for Martin. When the big Gate appears, head into it.
It's the last Gate in the game, and the toughest, but luckily the most straightforward. Get past that, and prepare to fight Mehrunes in Imp City. |
