Oddworld Wiki?

I've seen heaps of Wiki websites for so many different things. Some for stupid reasons, others for good reason. Some are:
http://www.uncyclopedia.org
http://www.sickipedia.org/index.php?title=Main_Page

The one that really got me thinking was http://www.uesp.net
That's for the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages, for Elder Scrolls games. It has so much information on the games themselves.

Why doesn't someone do the same for Oddworld? So many on this forum know so much about Oddworld. I've been to the Oddworld library and all that. They're good, but I found them too hard to navigate through and don't give as much information as they should (No offence if someone here created the websites. This is just my opinion). A Wiki website would be a way to keep Oddworld information well organised and easily accessable.

I went and looked up a way to create these modified wiki pages. I came to a webpage where the program wikipedia was made from is downloadable. I read up a bit on it and it seems that one may need some coding skill to get it right. But it was a quick read, so I may have misunderstood.

Now, does anyone else think this is a good idea? It could be linked to this forum and perhaps all of the questions and answers could be logged on the wiki. In my opinion, it'd be second to the best way of giving out Oddworld information.

What are your thoughts on this?

Okay, so one is already made. I look quite the duffer, don't I?

There already is an Oddworld Wiki site. Not all that informative mind you, but there still is one.

Here is the site.

Damn you google! I looked up Oddworld Wiki. Nothing came up.

You said it isn't all that informative. From what i've seen from the forum cruisers here, you all probably know alot more than what is shown on that website and it is free to edit.
So why doesn't anyone just edit it? I mean, I know most of you know more than me about Oddworld. It could end up a pretty good site with the right information imbedded.

All the information you would put on an oddworld Wiki is already in The Oddworld Encyclopædia. It may not have all the rad 'wiki' stylings that all the young kids are talking about these days but it's a highly attractive and informative site nonetheless.

I find the Oddworld encylopaedia very helpful, and the existing Oddworld Wiki is pretty bad in my opinion.

I agree. The information on the Oddworld Wiki isn't even current. TOL is definitely most reliable Oddworld information site out there.

Especially when it's done by the most efficiant people, Xav and Max!
They're the proffessionals and do the thing right!

snuzi 02-20-2007 05:00 AM

Precisely. Who better to create an Oddworld information site, than the two people who know the most about it?

Well, shucks. What with all this back‐patting and Arxryl’s complimentary new signature, I can’t help but feel loved and appreciated. Thank you, chaps.

No offence taken, Squeak, I love any and all feedback. I particularly enjoy any that might inspire me to make TOE a better resource for people.

Regarding navigation, I’ve built TOE to emulate the design and function of MediaWiki‐powered wikis quite a bit. Pages have the same URI structure, and there is the same kind of linkage between the articles. There aren’t any categories or the like, but with only 34 articles, all of which are accessible from the contents page, there’s no need for them.

Regarding the scarcity of content, I’m working hard on a huge information update (‘Wave Three’) that I hope will please everyone.

I don’t want to turn TOE into a wiki, not when I’m still actively developing it. I do love the GNU Free Documentation License, which puts me somewhat at odds with myself, but what they hey. I’ve spoken with Andrelvis, and while I appreciate his work on the Oddworld Wiki and know he’s still trying to get it to work, it’s been my experience that Oddworld just doesn’t get represented well on wikis.

Heh you can trust us, TOL isn't done expanding yet. And the wave 3 Max is talking about will give you some good read :D

Well, I re-went to the Oddworld Encyclopedia. It's either updated since I last went... Or I was looking in the wrong place.
There's plenty of info on it. So disregard my comments on content.

Well, either way, it's better than that Wiki. That has almost nothing in the ways of content.

You should probably disregard everything I say.
