Hi-Def Oddworld + AO Paramonia Help

Is it possilbe to maybe increase the resolution and sharpen the graphics in anyway possible? What about brightness increase too, because some areas are really dark, not as dark as I remember them.

As for Scrabania, when you first enter the temple (with all the sligs in the background and orbs and mines and stuff), I can barely save the mudokons to the secret area on the right, but as much as I try I can't get past the mines and sligs to the next checkpoint to save my game. Is this just a case of keep trying?

Okay.....
with the contrast you can only do it on pc by fiddling with the screen options. [not actulay in the game.]

lol dude the way you typed "okay......." kinda scares me.

I guess maybe I'm just used to brighter games.

And just in case anyone is wondering about why it says Paramonia Help in the title and I mention Scrabania instead, that's just a simple typo.

The darkness makes the game much more mysterious, but if it's TOO dark, just do this: Go in Control Panel > Gamma > And mess around with the controls.
If this doesn't work, search for a program called Powerstrip to make the screen as bright as you want, and they're assigned to hotkeys so you can do it in-game! Hope this helps! ;)

It's impossible to increase the resolution. You can only take out what OWF put in, so to speak.

Slaveless 02-20-2007 05:50 AM

Not true. I have gotten the screen bright enough to have where normally I couldn't see the Slog's details in the shadows, to where I could see it completely, like in normal light.

If youve got on PS you just change the tvs contrast.

Dude... I think he's talking about the PC version, obviously.
What's with the frikkin' exclamation marks?

About the Scrabanian Temple...yeah, that bit sucks, but it's a matter of method. I'd recommend practicing it first.
And you know, the rocks that stick out? You can hide behind them, just like in AE. The reason I'm saying that is, I didn't notice that until about 3 months ago.
Also by the end, when you have to deactivate the UXB, deactivate it quickly, just as you roll into the screen. The Slig won't shoot you if you do it quickly enough. It's three red and one green, if my memory doesn't fail (me is too lazy to check back on walkthrough). Then, roll to the leftmost edge of the screen, stand behind that giant rock, and chant. The orb is going to strike you down (it won't if you crouch, by the way), but the Sligs are going to go all crazy and not pay attention to you for a while.

I suppose the only reason I noticed that first time around was because I'd played AE first...

S'mornin I was playing Loading dock in MO and I thought it was a bit dark so I brightened the sreen by 25% and it was perfect.

Point...? Wow, very Off-Topic!

Damn, ya beat me to it, Jordan! :p

But, honestly, where did MO come from? Last I remember, we were discussing this person's problems with the resolution of AO ;).

LawgSkrak 02-25-2007 06:36 AM

I'm having this problem on Windows XP as well, with Abe's Oddysee. The first time I loaded it, I could see everthing just fine, now everything is too dark, to the point where I can't see anything at all. And my monitor is turned up to 100% on brightness.

Is there something I was supposed to download so this game works properly on XP?

Jordan 02-25-2007 07:06 AM

I don't think the brightness is anything to do with the operating system.
Try downloading a program called Powerstrip, you can make the game as bright as you like.
On AO and AE the game was very dark for me, then I used Powerstrip, I can see perfectly now.
I think it's because I have this 5 year old TFT monitor, uh..

LawgSkrak 02-25-2007 07:38 AM

So I downloaded Powerstrip and can't get it to work. How does this program work? What's the hot key to brighten it? I assigned the Z key but when I press it in the game, nothing happens????

HELP!

LawgSkrak 02-25-2007 11:05 AM

Yeah and back to the resolution. I've seen screen grabs of this game where it looks crystal clear, but when I play it on XP, it looks kind of choppy. No way to fix that?

Got Powerstrip to work by the way. :)

Jordan 02-25-2007 10:42 PM

Hm... I've had no problems with my copy, but the graphics do look rather pixelated. Is this just me, or does it happen on Windows 95/98 too?
I'm glad ya got Powerstrip to work dude! ;)

E'l Scrabino 02-25-2007 11:42 PM

Please do no double post Lawg. I'm glad you fixed the contrast problem though.
