AO Trouble with gamespeak and sound
Okay. I was playing a saved AO file, in which I was at the stockyard return. It took a half an hour to complete the level (granted that I was searching for secrets most of the time), and when I made it back to RuptureFarms, There was all this weird beeping and it sounded like there was alot of static in the background. Also, when you see the first mud on your re-entry, I went to say "Hello", but instead, I farted, but the game knew that I said "Hello", so when the mud stood up and went to say "Hello", he farted, which amused me for several minutes, in which I continuously said "Hello". But when I said "Follow Me", all the sound was replaced with, "BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEECHCHCHCHCHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP" and then, I muted the sound, figuring that I could play without it, but when I rescued the mud, the whole game just froze. And yes, I made sure that the "Audio" plug was in correctly and far enough. Any1 got any ideas on y this might have happened?

My first thought was that your disc is damaged. Although, if you're playing AO on the Windows XP, then that would explain it, as I've read quite a few posts concerning people who have had issues with playing AO normally on it.

Did you really need to provide the sounds? :p
Perhaps you could show a video of your problem? It sounds like some sort of glitch, but it seems funny with the farting instead of hello. |
I know of this problem with AE, but AO? Have you tried re-installing?

i get a similar problem with my PS version of AO. sometimes, simply pausing and unpausing the game works, though the definite fix is saving the game, then restarting the consol.
im not sure if that'll work with the PC version of the game, but i dont know why it wouldnt.. |
Sorry about the confusion, and the noise, but I used the PSX version when it did this, so I can't provide a video, but, to answer snuzi's reply, the game is not damaged and has never done this to me. I always keep that game in mint condition.

Perhaps your system is dusty on the inside or something to that effect? Try using some Dust Off on the disc tray, and slightly on the inside of the system. Sometimes, a dirty or dusty system can interfere with gameplay.

Random glitches happen. If they aren’t persistant, sometimes it’s easier to just ignore them. Does the problem repeat itself, or does this glitch repeat itself every time you get back to RuptureFarms?

ive had the same exact problem since i bought the game in 1997. i told you, just save your game, then restart the system. it fixes it every time, kuz whatever glitch it had is forgotten after you restart.

ive been having the exact same problem since i got the game the year it came out. its just a simple glitch. i doubt it has anything to do with the system, considering its done it to me on my old ps1, and both of my ps2's. it usually happens to me when i do anythign that makes a loud noise, ie; blow up a grenade, mine, something like that.
