Star Wars: Force Unleashed
Guess what...
Yep, there's another Star Wars game coming out. And as you may have already guessed, it's called Star Wars: Force Unleashed. I've seen a couple videos and it looks absolutely amazing. Enemy AI is supposed to be incredibly sophisticated, having stuff like self preservation and so on. You can see this in the AI tech demo. Stormtroopers will do things like grab onto beams or ledges if they're falling off, and if a storm trooper falls past another they'll try to grab onto each other to. It's supposedly coming out in November this year. Keep in mind that these videos are tech demos, so they're not necessarily what it'll look like in the end. Tech Video and possible release date: http://www.younewb.com/2007/02/11/st...november-2007/ AI tech demo: http://gamedrift.com/articles.php?a=265 Material reactions tech demo: http://www.gametrailers.com/umwatcher.php?id=42397 Although it's older, the material tech demo is the most interesting. I don't think I've seen any game that does material reactions so well. |
GI had an article about this. Looks great. Alot of force lightning. The screens look great. Though, its more stylelistic than detailed, that being said it is VERY detailed. I thought I was looking at concept art at first.
|
That has got to be the best physics engine have ever seen.
|
Wow, that looks simply amazing. Now I'm anticipating its release even more so :D.
|
ive never bean A star wars fan, but i like the games.

This looks awesome, the AI looks amazing! This'll be a big hit when it comes out. It'll probably be out for the PS3 and 360, but I'd love to control the force and light sabers with the Wii remote, that would rock! |
Oh yeah, I should have said. It's set to be released on the Xbox360, PS3, PSP, DS and Playstation 2.
Obviously the PSP, DS and PS2 won't feature these amazing graphics. |
:
|
That would be pretty awesome. *pretends to swing wii mote like nunchuck.
And the whole concept sounds fun. I mean, Darth Vader's secret apprentice? Sounds awesome. |
Uhh... It isn't for the Wii? And it's for the PS2!!? It's missed one of the next-gen consoles and replaced it with a crappy, old battered machine.
That's really peed me off now, I'd have loved to use the Wii remote. |
Don't you mean, Piid you off since we are talking about the Wii?
Anyways, I can see why they didn't go for the Wii. Their plans for it were probably already made for the game to be on a regualr based console instead of Wii styled. But it would still be really awesome to sii some Wii action. |
I think the main reason why is that the Wii can't handle the same graphics that the PS3 and Xbox 360 can. It really is a shame though, as I would have loved to chop me up some stormtroopers using the Wiimote :(.
|
The graphics don't matter to mii... I'd just love the awesomeness of swiishing a Wii remote around as a lightsaber. But what really annoyed me is that it's going on an old console, the PS2. If the Wii can't handle the graphics, what says the PS2 will? When is this thing supposed to be coming out? Later this year? And they're STILL using the PS2 for games? That's just wrong in my opiinion. It's not fair...
|
Well, they may be doing this for buisness. Not everyone has one of the new consoles, so they are going to release a slightly less-awesome graphics game for the PS2 for those select people.
|
GI said only PS3 and 360, but they are probably wrong. I think we need to wait for a SW Wii game, so they can master the controls. We dont want another Red Steel.........
|
Why? Did Red Steel really suck? I haven't played it yet.
|
Me neither. My friend played it, he said it was fun.....but that kid is retarded, so I can't really go by him.
|
I just hope the rumours that the character in this game tries to one up Sidious and possibly succeed are untrue. Sidious is the most powerful Sith Lord of all time (per New Essential Chronology and Dark Empire Sourcebook), greater than Marka Ragnos, Naga Sadow, Tulak Hord, Ludo Kressh, Freedon Nadd, Exar Kun, Darth Revan, Darth Traya, Darth Bane, or any other Sith. Unless you're Anakin Skywalker, you don't stand anything greater than a small chance of beating Sidious.
|
:
Palpatine is "the most powerful practitioner of the Sith ways in modern times." In modern times. Ragnod, Sadow, Tulak, Kressh, Nadd, Revan, Treya, they were all many thousands of years before the movies and so would be in ancient times. And to be honest, they were all badasses. I havn't seen Sidious do anything particularly bad ass. Like take a whole republic fleet into unchartered space and come back a sith lord. |
"Yoda went after Palpatine in the Senate chamber, but was unable to defeat the most powerful Sith Lord in history"
(Posted by someone at another forum.) http://img384.imageshack.us/my.php?image=proof9gs.jpg New Essential Chronology>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Wikipedia in terms of Star Wars canon. As for the fleet thing, big deal. Revan may have been a very good military strategist (although 10-1 odds render this debateable), and probably a good duelist (I think he's probably a Makashi user myself) and had the best fashion sense in the Galaxy, but he sure as hell can't hold a candle to a man who caused one of the largest Galactic wars in history, did what no other Sith ever could, had the Chosen One for an apprentice, gained the knowledge of all the Ancient Sith, and may well have been the Dark Side itself. Marka Ragnos creator has stated he is inferior to Palpy, and Marka had friggin apprentices who caused supernovae. With. Their. Hands. |
You're all wrong.
Darth Vader is the greatest Sith Lord of all time. I mean, think about it. You're all saying Palpatine is the greatest, and sure, he tricked the whole Republic, killed all the jedi (except for Oby and Yoda), and basically did this all while maintaining the illusion that he was a good guy. Except at the end. Then he went totally evil. But Vader made Luke go after Palpatine, all your guy's so-called 'greatest sith lord of all time' without Palpatine knowing about it. |
Oh Jesus, I can't believe I'm arguing over Star Wars... I've hit a new low.

We supply flashlights free of charge, though, so you don't have to worry. |

Yay! SW arguing!
I say I'm the greatest sith lord of all time, but... Now, I think that Anakin was possibly the strongest sith lord because he was indeed the chosen one. I mean, at the end of Episode III, he balanced the force by leaving 2 jedi and 2 sith. Plus he gained enough strength at the end to unsuspectingly kill Emp. Palpatine. Also, Zion is pretty close too. The only reason he died, was because he let go of the dark side. If he hadn't, he could've been an un-stopppable force. But this, all of everyone's ideas, is still opinion. But Darth Vader is still the original bad ass. |
I was talking in terms of reached power, not potential. Also, where the hell does this "Jacen Solo is teh uber" crap come from? The man became a Sith Apprentice to Vader's ex pseudoapprentice. Big whoop. Certainly, in terms of potential, Anakin is the undisputed top of all the heaps. Vader lost some of his potential, though.
And anyway, if we based power on physical attractiveness, then Yaddle would outclass Sidious by leaps and bounds. If we're basing it on fashion sense, then Vader, Revan, Nihilus, the Red Armoured Dark Lord, and Naga Sadow would slaughter anyone else in a fight. |
I think Sidious was the most cunning of all the dark lords. It was brains that won him the galaxy.

Just by watching the first video, I'm excited. Even though some of the stuff probably is scripted (like the Storm Trooper reatching for his weapon in mid air), it still looks godly.
Just hope my computer can run it. Edit: Aaw. It's not for PC? Oh well, I might have a 360 by then. |
