Abe in games
 

Hi I have played the 2 first abe games and they where the best and now when the new games have come, strangers wrath and so on. I haven't seen abe anywhere, will he not be in this games anymore? I realy wanna see him in a game to xbox 360 and ps3.

Abe has appeared in Munch's Oddysee, so we can say that he had reached some part of the new games. However, I am sorry to tell you, but you won't be seeing Abe in a game for a long time. OWI has became an all entertainment team now. They decided to make television shows, movies, and games to produce their products. OWI's next Abe appearance will probably be when they make a movie out of Abe's Oddysee. Game wise, I would expect something from a game about Abe in 2014, or 2020 even.

2014? I'll be 20 by then, I hope I'm still a hardcore Oddworld fan... I doubt it will be going to the PS3, the 5th generation consoles will probably be out by then, and it will most likely go to Microsoft again.

Yes, I also hope that Abe will be in more games. I miss the old kind of oddworld style of games. (Meaning I wish they would make more games like AO and AE.) If they could remake AO and AE in 3d with awesome next gen graphics so it would be like OWI invisioned it, without any limitations, (meaning they could also add the stuff they wanted in but couldn't before) I WOULD BE ONE HAPPY BOY!

Man the gaming industry is really pissing me off these days, which is why I've pretty much given up on most of the new shit.

Another reason why I'm sick of the whole gaming thing, I'm gonna have to buy a new console like every 5 years to keep up.

Can they change there mind about making games, why 2014?? can it be in 2 years and why did they stop making games?

Man, I really hope I don't grow out of Oddworld... I'll miss some pretty good stuff if I do, but I hope I'm gonna carry on liking it, and I hope I have time to play the games when I'm 20, I could be training to be a games designer by then! :fuzsad:

Two years is unlikely. Lorne and Sherry haven’t yet made any film deal with Oddworld, let alone a production deal. It’ll be a number of years before we get an Oddworld film.

An anniversary is an annual event. Their next anniversary will be in 2007. Their next bilustral anniversary will be in 2014. ;)

They might. however it seems like they (if they ever make the games again) will make different types. Like how Stranger's Wrath was a shooter and MO was 3-D. They will probably try to go for a new route with more inovative game strategies. (not saying that AE and AO were non-inovative, but you know... they have already done it.)

I wish Lorne Lenning would be a super millioner and he would not have to care about making money :p Im afraid only that would bring back the old style, lovely atmosphere of OW. :) To me the real OW is AE and AO and i think for most of us...

Well yes. We all have different opinions of the real OW. Although i do think Lorne knows what hes doing. OWI definately showed that they can make quality games.

But to tie into the topic, i think Lorne knows it very well that most of his "followers" like OW because of OWI's first 2 games. If he wants to make more money and he wants to keep us interested he will need to bring back Abe, the Glukkons the sligs and all what comes with the Abe games sooner or later.

No, the problem with that theory is that Oddworld's existing fans are not enough to keep them going. That's why he came up with SW - it was a game that would/should have appealed to a wider market. He knows that as long as he makes a reasonably good game, we'll follow him anyway.

I agree, plus I don't realy want to buy another 2D game to follow the story lorne wants to tell us.

Actually wathever Lorne does now I'll buy (except if it's realy terrible, but I don't think Lorne could do that to us :p).

They have to find new fans, and they wont succeed to do that with the release of another 2D game

When Citizen Siege comes out I'll buy all the merchandise I can for it, I'm not missing out on more merch!

And actually id like to see stories and more art as well much more... Odworld would come through much better through movies. When i play AO or AE i realize that these days i only play them because of the detailed background images... Im bored the of the plot itself. I pray citizen siege will have great success and Lorn and crew will get Abe into the cinemas.

Oh, oh, oh, and one more thing. 3D is absolutely fine but make it quality like MO was supposed to be as we see from the left out things. Actually MO was a bit disappointing to me after the first two games visual detail-wise... anyway...
