Strange Habits

We all have our strange habits and traits. Well, I hope it's not just me that has a couple of strange habits. Well...here they are.

If I'm passing a room and I hear an advert to do with the Nintendo DS, I just have to go and watch the advert no matter what. I have no idea why

I bite my nails a lot. You may that's not weird. But I spit the nail clippings at things that I'm aiming at randomly.

When there's something I didn't find funny in the past, I always laugh the next day or later on.

Sometimes, when I don't think about it, I put on a lisp for some reason. I end up saying something like 'How thuper!' or something like that.

So does anyone have any weird habits...or is just me...(Hopes and prays that it's not just her)

snuzi 12-23-2006 08:59 AM

I have alot of habits.

I tend not to sleep at night.

I have to shower whenever I feel even slightly dirty.

Whenever a light is on in an unoccupied room, I have to turn it off.

I have to correct any sentence I see with bad grammar and/or spelling.

I have to read an entire page of a book before I take a break. I can't just stop in the middle of a paragraph.

I have to look out a window when listening to my Ipod. I don't know why, it just makes the listening experience more enjoyable.

The list goes on and on. Those are just a few that came to mind right away :p.

If anyone ever says "Davy Jones' Locker" I must brush myself off, touch wood, turn around twice clockwise and spit.

I have that same problem :P

I sniff my hair. Alot. I have no idea why, it doesn't even smell of anything, but I can't help it.

I always brush my bangs over to the one side, even when they're not even in my eyes.
Or I always have to be doing somehting with my hands wether it is playing a game, or just rubbing them together.
I always look to the left when I am thinking.
instead of saying "cool" or "yes" I will do a kind of blink.

Yeah, awkward aren't they?

skillya_glowi 12-23-2006 11:33 AM

I talk to myself when I'm alone. Frequently. And sometimes even when I'm not alone, but in a whisper. I'm weird.

Bullet Magnet 12-23-2006 12:07 PM

Upon entering a room, I always look for an exit. I form an escape plan for various scenarios, all of which are unlikely (largely to do with an alien or monstrous invasion).

I also engage in the "Invisible Tennis Match" is public places, do the "Fly Hands" when thinking, and frequently cut out eye-holes in my newspapers. Needless to say, I worry people. All I need is a tan, and I'll be asked to leave aircraft. Thank the non-specific deity for my reclusive lifestyle.

Rex Tirano 12-23-2006 12:15 PM

When I'm uncomfortable on a date, I yawn. It gives me time to think about what to say or it usually makes them shut up. :p

Whenever I sit down I just have to move one of my legs, I have no idea why, but in Year 6 I got told off for 'Break Dancing' when we were doing Art, my teacher could be a bastard sometimes!

I have a strange obsession with making weird noises, people in my house look at me gone out... I wonder why! ^v^

Leto 12-23-2006 01:58 PM

When I was very young I had the borderline psycotic habit of picking my nose and placing the snot underneath my fingernails. Wtf, I know.

If I think about something really embaressing or awkard that has happened I speak without realising.

I've recently developed the habit of screaming very loudly if I don't want to talk to someone who is talking to me. It's mainly just for the hilarity factor.

skillya_glowi 12-23-2006 02:05 PM

Also, I have a strange obsession with straight single Australians, ages 17-20.

Oh oh, we have another Jacob on our hands...

This is something I've realised quite recently but when I'm working (esp coding) I feel like I can't concentrate properly unless I'm listening to music. Which is not a problem in principle but that I end up unconsciously singing or humming along. Not so good in a shared office. To make it even worse, I also talk to myself about what I'm working on.

Darn. two out of three. :p

I'm obsessed with making sure my eyes don't have anything in them, as in dirt or fluff.

GTdragon 12-23-2006 08:32 PM

I tend to have conversations in my head. Sometimes it can be enlightening but mostly it's something ridiculous. Drawing on my clothing when i'm bored. My pants suffer under this habit. Jordan you're not alone on that last one.

A habit I just realized I have made for myself is that I tend to quote things.... a lot. Not just on forums, but when I am talking to someone I'll use a quote to effectively show my side of the topic/argument. Doesn't work so well online though... :)

Also, when I stand and am not talking, I will put my hands together as if listening intently to one's conversation.

And I have another weird thing. I will do the hand gestures for "Okay, great."
which mainly consists of the O.K symbol and a thumbs up.

Majic 12-24-2006 10:28 AM

I always eat around the rim of a burger first, and consume the very center last. A similar pattern is exhibited with sandwiches, where I must eat a third of it from one side, then eat another third from the other side, then finish it.

That's the internet generation for you. They read everything online then use it to their advantage to make themselves appear more intelligent and witty than they really are.

snuzi 12-24-2006 12:39 PM

I can't sleep without a pillow between my legs. I don't know why, it just doesn't feel right.

I'm not talking completely about online. I am talking about from other sources like movies and books and such. And usually it is to portray or illustrate something. And not always in an argument either mind you.

Leto 12-24-2006 05:34 PM

Thank you for extending my point. :D It's acceptable if they know the source and it's kind of an injoke, but when you pass it as you're own it's horrid.

Arxryl 12-24-2006 05:37 PM

Yeah, I understand that I'm only proving your point even more, but I don't pass the information on as my own. I have morals too! (well... some anyways.)

Abraham Lure 12-26-2006 12:31 PM

I have just reminded myself of one of my other strange habits. Sometimes, I do these loud, long, disgusting belches at random intervals. I did when I felt ill from eating too much yestarday and I felt better after wards. But I remember doing it in School for no reason and everyone being shocked ^^;;. I know, a young lady like me shouldn't be belching XP.

Yes, you need to act like a lady! I burp a lot, because I can! I can do weak fake burps, but I practice regularly! :p Only kidding!

That's kinda sexist, don't ya think?

Another Weird Habit: I always have to keep any books I have in perfect condition. If they get creased or bent in any way, I freak out.

You're humour is as cold as a corpse, innit? Reply with a "B-but, I was joking too!" and you'll be safe.

That's quite freaklish, wee one. Burping at that extent = precursor to vomittinglol.

Dude... I was kidding, I can't stand sexism, I was emphasising lady as a quote from Little Britain!

Statikk HDM 12-27-2006 04:01 PM

When I'm nervous, have sat down for too long or too little, am thinking of something to say, trying to remember something, or pausing at work I take my right hand and place it on the upper part of my back just below my neck. It feels so natural.
The other one is I take my left hand and place it over my right. It cinches up just at my waist line a few inches above "man land". I've been doing it for so long now I don't really think I could quit and I don't really want to.

Arxryl 12-27-2006 08:02 PM

I have a tendancy to say "Oi!" instead of "Hi!" or "Yes?"

And I say the phrase "Yeah no, I understand what you're talking about." It doesn't make much sense when you are typing it, but for some reason it sounds okay when speaking.

I think that's all the weird little habits I have...

Facsimile 12-27-2006 09:56 PM

I check my fly around five times a minute when I am at work and have just left the toilet or started work. Nothing happens in between the times for it to be unzipped, but I just can't not check! I've gotten damn good at doing it without it being noticeable, just in case I'm somewhere where I can't step behind something.

Also at work, when I walk around I usually put my tongue to the right side of my mouth and chew it. I think that one only started after I got my braces, but I can't remember.
