At the start of Abe's Oddysee..
..before you head out to the Yards, where you'll first encounter cages Scrabs and alarms, there is this massive sign before you leave the starting level of AO saying something in the likes of "LEAVE NOW AND ALL 28 WORKERS WILL DIE", now here's my question, there aren't really 28 workers available for rescue right at the start huh?? Because I think I've checked out and found all the hidden areas in the level and the area from ZULAG 1 to ZULAG 2 is closed off but somehow something just don't feel right.
Is there a way to get to ZULAG 2 or is that only possible when you return to RuptureFarms near the end of the game???? I am curious what an answer this could bring.. |
Yeah, it's only possible when you come back to RF later, after you do all the nature environments and the temples, and shit
EDIT: Howeeeeevver, I think this belongs in Help |
I the status screen says that you have freed 28 workers before you leave Zulag 1 your ok to go.
|
No why? It doesn't matter how many you save, you can still finish the game
|
There definitely are 28 workers to save when you first begin the game, and yes, the only way to get to Zulag 2 is by returning to Rupture Farms later on.
And I agree, this belongs in the Oddworld Help section. |
*moves*
On-topic: I had the same problem when I first played AO. It's one of the most devious things OWI has done in a game. But if you haven't saved 28 muds, then you haven't found all the secret areas. Try Sinjin's walkthrough to find what you've missed. The great thing about Zulag 1 is that you can backtrack through the entire level so you don't have to repeat yourself too much. |
Try looking behind barrels, or dropping in holes on screens where there's nothing much happening, but still can hear sounds (like a meat grinder, or a sleeping Slig, stuff like that. I believe the screen with the first ring has a secret area.
|
Or you could try Skillya's walkthrough: http://fairytails.info/ao_walkthru
And don't worry, it is possible to save 28 Mudokons at the beginning without going through Zalug 2. I'm just unproud that I couldn't find them without a guide. |
I needed a WT too. I was under the impression that all 99 mudokons were in RuptureFarms 1 or the Stockyard Escape (remember that noone I knew had got far enough to find out about the return, as my cousin Sam was stuck on what I rate the most reflex-intensive level in the entire game (well duh)).
EDIT: I did actually get all 28 before the walkthrough, but only after someone hinted to me that barrels can have secrets. |
yes there is definetly 28 workers in that lvl. i started another game and ive got 32 out of 32 workers freed so far. to get to lots more workers, if there is a barrel sticking up blocking some of the screen there is a thign u can climb down under the barrel. at the very start there is one in the first room ur in and when u need to get that sleeping slig when theres a mudokon washing the wall. and i think there is atleast 1 more. and when u need to jump across the 2 platforms with minew unde them throw a bomb in there to explode and u can go down a hidden place. also in the door that takes odown another level near the end after the slig that u sneek by and the guy that u cant see in the shadows. keep goign right and theres a room with 2 guys and then theres another one with about 5. u go there later to get to zulag 2 but they arent there. oo that makes me proud of myself coz i figured it out on my own.

zomgwheresthepunctuation.
Seriously. We need punctuation. |
It is possible to rescue 28 mudokuns before you leave rupturefarms. trust me ive done it. its funny how they think they can intimidate me. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHLOL!
|
Okay, it has been said a lot of times that it's possible to save all 28 muds, Xx_Abe_xX, please make your posts a little less irritating next time.
|
You are so mean. I like telling people my many accomplishments *cough*. Ok I was playing AO last night, and, I don't know wether it was a glitch or not, but it allowed me to go to Zulag 2, including going into other rooms and rescuing muds, without going through Scrabania and Paramonia. Is that supposed to happen?

:
On Topic: I remeber playing AO at a friends house and you had to smash all the barrells and that because there is 28 its just there hiding every where. |
You can't smash barrels in AO. However, you could climb under certain barrels, as they are sometimes used to hide Secret Areas.
|
To answer your question, Xx_Abe_xX, Zulag 2 is impossible to get into until getting into the native areas first. It is just how the game is played.
|
I think maybe some people don't find the secret where the sign, "you leave and 28 muds die" is, the one at the sleeping slig.
|
Yeah, I know that one. You throw the bomb to kill the sleeping slig, then jump onto the platform he was on and roll through it. there are 3 mudokons, but to get to them you must cross meatsaws. To escape the secret alive, you need to kill the slig in the room next to the one wth the lift.
|
There is a better way to do it. You climb up on the screen with a Slig that falls down, blow up the security orb, possess, go up, and shoot the guy.
|
That's what I always do.
That is really very awkward though. And I suppose that's what mainly makes AO harder: there are no Soulstorm Brew bottles signifying secret areas. |

|
Sorry for double posting, but if there is a secret area near by, and say it has a meat saw or a deactivator bomb, you should be able to hear it. It will be a soft sound, but listen closely enough, and you'll hear it.
|

And what's more, I don't think that just skipping the native environments is even possible. |
I think he means the ball cart, Snuzi! Have you got any proof of your problem? I'm still having trouble believing you.
|
youre game must have been seriously glitched if you actually did that.. ive tried that a million times in the past, and it never worked.. the door on the other side should always be locked untill you return to rupture farms
